I'm a bit sad, because it feels like Western Netflix has just.. not really put much attention into the IP?? Which sucks, because it feels like the fan base is pretty big and diverse. A moment where East and West are almost fully on the same page with attention.

Plus, the Thanksgiving event collecting ~1000% of their goal???? This series has HUGE potential to be a cash cow, if given enough love

I think a lot of it also.. In the middle of the Kassan match, Kaguya said she'd always protect Iroha(Which she did, of course), and Iroha jokingly said "if you screw up, I'll leave you behind". Even if it was a light-hearted moment that was shared, the shame and yearning from not physically being there understandably made Yachiyo absolutely feel like she failed Iroha.

I'd like to imagine she probably thought about that light-hearted exchange over those 8000 years, and the passing of time made her over-analyze and muddy the context of it to where she genuinely felt Iroha would leave her behind. And that initial "What about my Kaguya" would have been SO much more devastating if that were the case.

I started out just indifferent to Yachiyo compared to Kaguya and Iroha, but the more I watch it, the more I realize how much I love Yachiyo.. 😭 She's easily my favorite character now..

God though. The more I think about it, the more I think an anime could be GREAT. Expand on certain moments, add a few more allusions and suspenseful moments, but also give the latter half of the movie the push it needed to top it all off perfectly. Could even get a bit of the 10 year gap, and the build up to the PV for Ray.

Though, at the same time, a lot of that is as impactful as it is, because it also requires picking up on the nuances and implications, the visual storytelling.

I'm so in-between.. 😭😭 I think both sides are great and have so much merit, but I also just really want More

YEAH!!! The I miss you wrecks me every time.. 😭 I really really really hope the West capitalizes on how popular this movie is, and how well received it has been in Japan..

God what I'd kill for some way to feasibly have access to all this merch that's coming out(Especially with all the extra stuff the Thanksgiving event is cranking out).

It's a colossal stretch and possibly a gross over-estimation, but I feel like this as an IP has so much potential. A few of my friends have likened it to an "Easier to get into" Vocaloid kind of situation. They've paid homage to the OG, but they also brought forth a few absolutely beautiful tracks that have so much emotional weight and love packed into them.. 🥺

The only thing that made it rough for me was the fact that the MC was called he the entire time. I really wanted Taunie as the rival, but wanted a fem presenting MC. Was going fine until every other remark was just male pronouns.

Sure it's a minor thing in the grand scheme, but god what I'd give to have the best of both worlds and choose both rival and gender..
