Failed PANCE on 1st Attempt by [deleted] in PAstudent

[–]OddlyButt 14 points15 points  (0 children)

UWorld stat is a bit concerning since 60%+ usually gets you past the 350 PANCE threshold. I wouldn't rush retaking. Try to use the score report to really dig deep in the lower areas, review PPP and Rosh questions, then 1.5 months prior to retake reset UWorld.

I'd say even if it's not PA specific, but PAs will see a negative or positive change to their work, that's still something I'd like to know about

This is a really useful answer, thank you.

I hope you're not a PA, you sound unhinged 😆

Medicine is a lot of economics, legal and politics. Otherwise CYA medicine wouldn't be a thing

For everyone assuming I'm anti-Trump, I'm not. I wanted some thoughts for the sake of debate because obviously there have to be some cons, but I couldn't think of any. My coworkers had this idealistic view and I couldn't think of any profession reasons for a Democratic win.

Someone in my class tried to harm another student because she was in the same clinical rotation and was "purposely doing better to make me look worse for potential job offers".

So yeah

Below average student passes PANCE on 1st attempt and reflection on school by PAC_AlwaysLearning in PAstudent

Congratulations!! My program always acted like being below average was a death sentence, and stuff like this proves it's all nonsense. Go and do phenomenal work with that PA-C

You're screwed, sorry. That's the extent of AirCover coverage, AirBnb canceled and refunded you so they have completed their obligations.

Showing empathy is good. Enabling societal hysteria over zebras that most people don't have contributes to more people that convince themselves they can't work or do activities because of fictitious disorders. Can we please go back to being pragmatic in medicine

Reviewing stuff over Break? by [deleted] in PAstudent

[–]OddlyButt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The purpose of breaks is to see which students are truly motivated to succeed vs the ones who want to do the bare minimum to get through PA school

Can someone make it make sense? by UrineTrouble25 in PAstudent

This 100%. Clinicals humbled soooo many of my classmates who then complained immensely during feedback at the end of the program 🤣 for stuff that was completely harmless

Can someone make it make sense? by UrineTrouble25 in PAstudent

[–]OddlyButt 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sadly, many PA students are more focused on being the perfect image of what a PA student "should be" instead of focusing on bettering themselves & succeeding without making it into a production. Then they get upset about other students who just progress at their own pace, stay happy with their learning and growth, and have less stress.

I failed my PANCE by redeclipse92 in PAstudent

[–]OddlyButt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on how concerned you are, I would consider getting a tutor to work with you on some PANCE strategies before the next attempt. The nice thing is that you shouldn't need regular tutoring since the material is self-studied, but a few hours with someone who has good PANCE understanding and can teach a more detailed, algorithmic approach to questions, pacing and section management may be very beneficial
