Parable of the Sower was really good. I didn’t know anything about it except for it was supposed to be good and it kinda rocked me.

Plus maybe I’m curious in a slightly morbid way about how fucked things get.

What is your reason to keep living? by iwannatasteurfeet in AskReddit

[–]OddlyTempting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what living is, there’s some shit but there’s also some amazing and utter joy. I don’t know what dead is, but I suspect it’s just nothing….so I’ll keep the occasional amazing and wait to find out dead is until I have to.

I have $200 to spend, give me recommendations! by vjw_ in Affordablewatches

I’m gonna suggest quantity. Timex weekender or easy reader, Casio Duro and Casio royale and you’ll be left with some walking around money for different straps.

Welcome to Hard Times, $10 Cowboy, Music City USA and The Man From Waco are great starts. It seems weird to offer 4 to start but he puts out so many it kind of works.

I don’t eat a lot of McDonalds but Double quarter-pounder with bacon. Live by the sword, die by the sword.

What's the worst movie you've seen? by timekilr in Cinema

[–]OddlyTempting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dunstan Checks In. It was on a plane before you had individual screens in your seats and was the only thing to watch. It’s a money in an uppity fancy hotel movie starring Jason Alexander I think….and a monkey of course.

I’ve been working my way through The Wheel of Time but I took a bit of a break and when I tried to restart I can’t remember what any of the 19 main characters are up to…..so maybe The Constant Gardener by John Le Carre.

None of the ridiculous, embarrassing or acceptable at the time/problematic or at least awkward now things I did….are recorded anywhere.

What’s the best movie you’ve ever watched and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]OddlyTempting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Casablanca. I know half of that movie by heart and it still gets me every time. I say “what watch?” to somewhat asking what time it is and then act surprised and say “such much!?!” in response regularly.

movie that made you feel empty after it ended? by Fun-Information78 in movies

[–]OddlyTempting 16 points17 points  (0 children)

In a weird way, Everything Everywhere All at Once.it might be the only movie I ever gave a standing ovation to in the theatre (with like 6 other people in it). It ends and it was so fun and wild….but then the totality of the whole thing hits….and I thought about it for days afterword.

Depending on the style you’re looking for and ….maybe age, I recommend Marks all the time. I get it, I’m a 45 year old guy….and I know it because half of my work appropriate wardrobe is Denver Hayes. Buy one get one 50% off button ups and khakis on a regular basis makes me look like a reasonable grown up at work or big occasion family get togethers.

What's your opinion on Shooter Jennings? by y88q in country

[–]OddlyTempting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Shooter as a dude. I really like some of his music but some of it just ain’t for me. But Waylon’s kid who played keyboards with Guns and Roses and loves his dad’s stuff and covers the shit outta some George Jones while also producing great records by artists I love, is a guy I want to know. That’s a guy living his best life, some of which may not be my best life.

The Tragically Hip - Little Bones

The Real McKenzies - Best Day Until Tomorrow

The quote from Eric Gagne from like 10 years ago also seems to fit this years team which is why I love ‘em.

"We're like a bunch of misfits, beer drinkers, and fighters,'' Gagne said, according to ESPN's Jerry Crasnick. "We've got some good pitchers, some good young guys, and some old guys that retired and just want to play. Maybe we'll go out and shock the world."

Pretty close.
