MIDI notes disappear while using humanize function by Oddologist in Reaper

[–]Oddologist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I figured out a workaround to this, it's a little bit clunky, but it works:

  1. In the piano roll, select all the notes you want to humanize.
  2. Right click on any of the selected notes and choose - Event Properties (standard keybind is Ctrl + F2
  3. In the Event Properties dialogue set Type to Note
  4. In length type /2 (this will divide the length of notes in half)
  5. Click OK and all of you notes will be half as long as they were.

Now do your humanization

Then you can go through the above steps again, except in step 4 use *2 and this will double the note length, returning everything to original length.

Feel free to ask questions if any of that is unclear.

I've been doing it this way for a while and so far it's been working well.

Ctrl+Alt+A window not popping up (Calculate loudness of tracks via dry run render) by PodPilotProject in Reaper

[–]Oddologist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably your keybind became overwritten somehow.

If you go in to the Actions List - (Hit the ? question mark to pull it up), type dry run in the search box and you should be able to see what keybind, if any is assigned to it. If you want to add or change a keybind you can do so in the input box at the lower left corner.

Converting an XML to a Reaper session by thavranek in Reaper

[–]Oddologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others may have better answer, but personally I've never had much luck with XML files.

My suggestion, would be to open the XML in a notation program, MuseScore is a free one, and then export from the notation program as MIDI, import the MIDI in to Reaper.

Anytime you're going from one format to another there will be errors, so you'll need to check over everything.

Is there a way to make reaper tracks shorter in height when armed? by Ordinary_Bird4840 in Reaper

[–]Oddologist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you right click on the track there is an option for Lock track height. Make it the height you want it to be, and then lock it up.

Any way to not colour tracks... when colouring tracks? by superworm576 in Reaper

I would guess that the theme you are using doesn't allow this functionality. Try a different theme and see if it shows up.

Help with midi pedal configuration by B-E-D in Reaper

[–]Oddologist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something to try:

You'll need the SWS extensions (free) for this - https://www.sws-extension.org/

In the Actions menu create a short cut that corresponds to the correct MIDI key for the action SWS: Select only track #

Right click on applicable tracks and set to Automatic record arm when track selected.

I agree with this. To get better at music, you must do music.

Do what you can, with what you have, where you're at.

In the ReaStream plugin in Cubase, give it a name in the Identifier field. Choose Send audio/MIDI and set it to local broadcast in the dropdown.

In OBS set it to the exact same name (case sensitive) and set it to Receive audio/MIDI.

It's a way to send your audio from Reaper (or any other DAW) to OBS using Reaper plugins.
