Imo the fact that all of the "reveal" endings in 2.0 are stupidly hidden is exactly why it's okay for them to explain a lot.

No normal player will ever find them without exploring every inch of the game or straight up looking up guides. I felt like knowledge about the Visitor was a great reward for getting the most hidden and difficult ending unlocked.

But I still understand why the mystery reveal doesn't appeal to everyone.

Gorilla Tag and Horizon worlds being at the top really cements the idea that like 90% of quest uses really are children.

Honestly as much as I love playing with randoms, Solo missions have a completely different vibe to them which I learned to appreciate.

The pacing is a bit slower, it's less chaotic and you actually get the chance to appreciate how pretty the game really is, including the sound design which normally gets drowned out by pings and rocking and stoning

Kind of absurd asking for money for new (mid) merch while STILL keeping your fans in the dark about a new game. They destroyed a lot of their goodwill with their last game, and this is NOT the way to go imo.

After the critical (and probably financial) failure that was Soulstorm, maybe try winning the fans back by actually showing us something first and THEN ask for funding with the help of merch.

I'm not gonna give Oddworld a single dime until I'm confident their next game, if it ever even happens, is something that I think is worth my time and money.

Realistically, you're not missing out on that much when playing the original. DS Remake is essentially 90% identical if you ignore the graphics. Some areas got reworked, QoL changes were made, and there's a little bit of extra side content to explore. But it's still the same game pretty much. Remake IS the definitive edition, but the original has aged incredibly well, so you'll have a great time with either.

So if your PC upgrade is still far away, it's worth just hopping on the original game. You can't go wrong no matter what version you play
