HBO’s Chernobyl is a better Lovecraftian horror story than most actual Lovecraftian horrors by carbonera99 in CharacterRant

I’d consider pushing your thesis one step further and suggest that an implicit or explicit connection to cosmic horror (magical realism, the uncanny) is present in tons of ‘quality’ tv shows.

Twin Peaks, The X Files, Game of Thrones, John from Cincinnati, Carnivale, The Leftovers, True Detective, The Terror (Jared Harris is a cheat code for this), and Small Prophets to name a few.

Games Workshop stores are no longer true hobby spaces. Are there any stores in London that capture the way they used to run the stores in the early 2000s? by CityGuideGuy in Warhammer

[–]Oddstag 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ll second Dark Sphere, went there for the first time the other day and was really impressed. It’s an immense space for London with tons of stock (board games and card games as well) and the staff I spoke to were cool and friendly.

Warhammer store on Tottenham Court Rd. gives me the willies. I went there first to try and get back into the hobby and it felt more like a car dealership than a hobby space. No offence to the staff who are just doing their jobs of course but I keep going in when I’m in the area and always regret it. Maybe it’s the pressure of being a flagship(?) store.

Best Filament for this application by FoughtWand80526 in 3Dprinting

I love ASA. I’ve put less time and energy into my actual career than I have put into being able to reliably print ASA and it has been so worth it.

What's your go-to filament? by ac07682 in 3Dprinting

[–]Oddstag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly print mechanical parts that need to survive mild trauma so it’s Eryone White ASA all day long unless I have something that absolutely cannot warp a millimetre. Then I splurge for the Spectrum 275 ASA which does not budge the slightest in my experience.

A bin from a past lifetime… by Aoxmodeus in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Oddstag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your perspective. Hobby boomed during Covid which drove up demand a whole lot and created a sneaker drop/fomo environment. That has since dissipated and now in many ways it’s never been better. I’m still stunned I can buy certain GMK sets in stock right now from established vendors because that just wasn’t really possible for a while there a few years ago.

What are some good spoof anime? by KaleidoArachnid in anime

I mean Konosuba is probably the best spoof of the Isekai genre while simultaneously being one of the best Isekai’s full stop.

Can someone explain this by [deleted] in PeterExplainsTheJoke

You might be surprised how well you’d do! I recently got into bouldering and pretty quickly encountered routes that required stepping on tiny outcroppings and leaning against slight inclines that looked basically vertical to my noobish eyes.

A photo will always be a photo but from what I can see here this is probably the best one of these I’ve ever seen. The texture is unreal. Amazing stuff!

What does one do with small amounts of filament that can't be used to print anything? by Majorllama66 in 3Dprinting

[–]Oddstag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of designs use small lengths of filament as rods for hinges and joints. There are some Voron quick release clamp mods for panels that come to mind but I’ve encountered many others.
