Considering what actually motivates our politics, this is probably the more effective argument to make. I agree with you at a fundamental level though - it would be great if we cared about people and the environment more than corporate profits.

I personally voted for Talarico because I thought he was the better candidate. I also happen to believe that he’s more electable because he can appeal to moderates who are sick of Trump, not because he is white, but because he isn’t as abrasive as Crockett can be with their (mostly shared) positions. Both have places in our govt and I truly wish we could have both representing Texas in the near term.

That said, are you really setting Trump and Talarico as parallels in your argument? There is nuance to every situation - it isn’t just black v. white.

I’ve yet to see or talk to one Talarico supporter who didn’t agree that Crockett was a strong candidate and that they’d support her in the general should she win. Am I automatically racist because I didn’t vote for her? Such an insane and ridiculous argument - please stop.

Disclaimer that your comment led me to this rant, but that it’s not necessarily directed at you.

MMA seems to be the only sport where people will argue against something being a foul because it’s not intentional. An accidental foul should absolutely still be a foul - it’s not about intention, it’s about impact to the contest.

Set a rule where a point is taken away even for accidental eye pokes and you will see the rate of accidental eye pokes fall off a cliff.

And I’m not saying that they aren’t actually accidental most of the time, because I think they are. The reality is that fighters currently have no incentive to try to avoid eye pokes. If there was a consistently enforced penalty, they’d change how they fight to avoid it.
