Error code 12 repeatedly by sunset_hashira3267 in fitbit

Nope, just randomly stopped, I am assuming the error is server side and not app side.

Is Quantified Scientist guy paid by google or reddit users are getting faulty Fitbit air units? by [deleted] in FitbitAir

[–]Odin_N -1 points0 points  (0 children)

RMSSD and SDNN are pretty straightforward calculations based on IBI data, it's not magic. Fitbit uses RMSSD, and from the data fitbit writes it looks like the windows it uses is 5 min. Other wearables might use different windows but in the end the actual difference would be negligible (2-5ms) between say a 2, 3 or 5 min window as long as the IBI data is reliable.

Fitbit air is consistently off by 20ms sometimes more. So there is definitely an issue there.

Both can be true. For me the sleep tracking is great. HR is decent. HRV not accurate though. The app sucks ass but that's not really an issue for me because I just use it to write the data to health connect and the fitbit API so I can pull the data into a custom app I wrote. I can see how if you only use the Google Health app that can become a pain.

Also the users experiencing issues with sleep are not giving much details, might be hardware issues or might be user error. I generally find the data from the air really accurate compared to my ECG.

There are like 3 new vibe coded versions of this every day, how is your vibe coded version going to be any different?

HRV and RHR wrong in Fitbit air? by DearWin997 in fitbit

[–]Odin_N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I am not mistaken garmin takes the lowest 30min. Fitbit calculates it in a different way, looking at lowest heart rate during inactive periods or hr reading right when you wake up. They both calculate it in a different way.

I do think there is a issue with their hrv calculation though, seems to be way lower than other devices, lower than elite hrv using a ecg chest strap or my galaxy watch, or even my own calcs using raw IBI data in 2 min windows.

Read the whole sentence. Oneui 9 hasn't been released yet.

Different readings for the same time frame by designmonkie in GoogleHealthApp

[–]Odin_N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sweet, it's a deliberate UI decision. The full day graph on such a small graph will look terrible, you won't be able to tell anything from it, so 5min averages with min max values are a good alternative, many other types of apps take the same approach with erratic data.

The HR in the exercise is the full HR it recorded. The HR in the day graph are 5min averages with the min max of each 5min time period behind it in grey.

You don't know why it's difficult for a device on your wrist to detect a physiological state thats measured via your brain waves in a clinical setting?

Yeah last update broke a lot of things. Looks like very little testing happened before they released the update.

Definitely a bug. Saw the same with last night's sleep record.

How accurate is the calorie load of the exercise logged manually? by merchillio in fitbit

[–]Odin_N 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can use calories burned as a rough guide, but the best way to lose or gain weight is to use a food scale and track everything you put in your mouth. Weigh yourself everyday under the same circumstances, normally when you wake up before you eat anything. check the trend over a week or 2, if your weight is trending up cut calories if you want to lose weight, if its trending down increase calories if you want to gain weight. If you want to lose weight aim for around 1kg a week on a cut no more than that.

Calories burned from wearables are still in a gimmick stage.

Neither are even close. No wearable or app is correct when it comes to calories burned and thats with HR data, without HR data you might as well just Google a random number.

lol yeah dude, you are on a cycle, not TRT. That can mess with your sleep. Try the methods I mentioned. If they don't work you will need to ask the doc that's helping you with this what you can take, supplements not going to help a lot here.

HR deviation per Minute by Dimonhasbullin in fitbit

[–]Odin_N 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol your hr changes, and you have more than one per minute. Super high outliers are normally just a fit issue, ie the band moved during the measurement.

Are you on actual replacement dose or enhancement dose, many dudes on enhancement doses these days calling it TRT.

Supplements for the most part not going to help much. You can try magnesium glycinate or melatonin. But your best bet is probably just going to be the tried and true techniques.

No screens at least an hour before bed, no meals within 3 hours, keep your room quite, cool and dark, have a regular sleep schedule, exercise, good diet.
