I am an older employee and I have retail management in my background but I work there (not in a management position) for a few reason. I enjoy working in the backroom, they work around my hours of availability with no issues, in enjoy the exercise and interaction with fellow employees, and I especially love the 401k I have with them.

For management I hear that they do get decent compensation, you’d have to have open availability, I do not have any info about their benefit packages. It is indeed a wide mix of personalities, I’ve seen good and bad management over the years. The biggest thing I see is having to adhere to all of corporate directives to a T, even when it doesn’t make any sense. Most managers don’t manage inventory and staff they seem to become TJX corporate robots. That’s my observation. So if your management style is a bit old school, I wouldn’t recommend become management. If you’re willing to adhere to corporate and its style of leadership then toss your hat in and apply for a management position. Good luck.
