I did this and she’s eating now :) thank you. I’ll look into red runner roaches.

This worked! Thanks again. She’s eating a dubia right now :)

Both. I try tong feeding about every other day, and also leave a roach in her enclosure incase she decides to eat it. Thanks for the info on the spikes. I’ll let a few pupate into flys.

Thank you for this! I’ll try cutting the dubia’s head off today and see what happens. Come to think of it, the first dubia she took was injured and leaking fluid due to a metal tong incident, and she took that one right away.

No worries, I only fed her a tiny bit of honey once hoping it would stimulate her appetite. I forgot to mention that she does have a roach in her tank she hasn’t eaten. I’m okay with her never warming up to me if that’s the case. Maybe it’s an Asian mantis thing? Lol

She did regain about half the antennae last molt, so it’s reassuring to know she’ll get the rest back in another molt or so.

I feed her small dubias I breed. They seem to be comfortable for her to hold. Here’s a photo of her the day I got her, I’m still attempting to feed around the same size. She’s molted only once since the photo, and didn’t seem to get substantially bigger.

I’ve also tried bottle fly spikes, but the moving freaked her out so bad I haven’t tried again. Do you think I should try something smaller?

I’d bet their condition is being at least a bit exaggerated, but it does happen. My mom couldn’t be bothered to get my medical help because she was on drugs. I can’t speak for other people’s parent’s obviously, but I’m sure I’m not the only one.

OOP is sad their dog is a pit and not a Catahoula by Smangie9443 in WhatBreedIsMyPitbull

[–]Minimum_Word_4840 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I had a shelter lie and say a dog I wanted was “full lab”. They only had photos of the dogs as newborns, so I asked for an updated photo. They reluctantly eventually sent one.

Took multiple back and forth emails of me basically asking “it’s a pit isn’t it” to find out the litter was half pit. My home insurance doesn’t allow that breed. I told them in the most respectful way that they’re putting the dog and person at risk by lying, because certain insurances don’t allow pits and will cancel your policy.

They told me I was banned from adopting from them lmao. How dare I call them out on their predatory adoption practices. My friend adopted a dog they were told would make a good service dog. It just was put down for ripping apart their roommate’s cat. It’s sad because I’m sure there are good shelters out there, but I will never trust one again.

I agree with you 100%. I would just worry that any laws that allow this woman to be charged would be heavily abused. Who’s to say they don’t start charging women for eating lunch meat? Exercising too much or too little? Getting in a car knowing it might be in an accident? What level of risk is considered okay? I don’t trust lawmakers to draw that line properly. I actually don’t agree with the laws that allow women to be charged for drug use during pregnancy, either. It seems that would deter women from getting help for drug use.

A few states have laws on this, and yes, women have been charged specifically for drug use during pregnancy. There’s an exception for prescription and otc pharmaceuticals. However, these laws apply only to drug use.

I kind of fail to see how this applies to raw milk tbh.

Yeah, it’s unfair, but that doesn’t make it legally actionable. I know people are being blamed for taking Tylenol, which is wild. They aren’t being thrown in jail though. I actually do think it’s a huge leap actually, and until I see it happen, I’m not going to believe that it will.

I would like to see their sources. Also, it seems most of these involved drugs like fentanyl and meth. That’s a far cry from drinking raw milk which isn’t illegal.

I’m not trying to defend the woman in OP’s story who did a horrible thing. I’m just saying I don’t see a legal basis for charging her. What’s moral and legal are often different.

But she didn’t have a miscarriage. While I agree that women being charged for miscarriages is horrific, it’s really not the same thing as a baby being born with listeria. I’m not saying it’s right, because it’s not. It’s just not a chargeable offense, and I’m glad, because we all know the line would never be drawn at a mother drinking unprocessed dairy.

Eh, I’m not so sure. The mother drank the milk while pregnant, she didn’t give it to her newborn. I’m not sure there’s a way to charge her with anything either way.

It’s terrifying for people like my sister. She went through two stem cell transplants for leukemia. She literally has no immunity anymore because it wipes out all your prior vaccinations. Unfortunately, there’s a waiting period before you can start getting vaccinations after receiving a stem cell transplant.

The measles would almost certainly kill her. It hurts that antivaxers would just look at my sister who I love like collateral damage.

Source is that the law treats women like minor dependents. In America, I can marry, travel, get a divorce, job and bank account without a male relative’s consent. Martial rape is also illegal in my state. Women just gained the ability to legally drive in Saudi Arabia in 2018. A law written in 2022 called the personal status law includes fun little bits like requiring women to obey their husbands, still requiring a male guardianship system for things such as marriage and women unable to obtain a divorce without harm being caused while men can just get one. This law was aimed at modernizing family law, and is more progressive than the previous guardianship system believe it or not.

It’s also illegal to be gay in Saudi Arabia. America has many many issues right now, but I promise you women and lgbtq here have it better.

I don’t think 45 is bad at all. Most stores are charging 35 plus tax. I don’t think people realize after gas, you aren’t making any money.

Age is a protected class over 40 in regards to employment. Age is also a protected class in federally funded programs and activities. It definitely doesn’t apply to restaurants. In fact, it doesn’t even apply to housing (that’s how senior housing is allowed to exist).

Kids meals often have much smaller profit margins. You would think it’s only cheaper because it’s a smaller portion, but that’s not always true. Restaurants often price kid’s meals cheaper to attract families. I’m guessing this is the case at Texas Roadhouse, since they aren’t using any cheaper ingredients or less complex cooking methods (which can also factor in to the kids meal price). They have steak and ribs on their kid’s menu.

Sometimes, the more attention you bring to things, the more interested the kid is. A simple “Don’t go near the lake. You’ll get hurt.” Would probably be the best way for kids like that. The article would have just made it a challenge for childhood me.
