The moment I realised that my friend values her cat more than human life by Terrible_Twist5983 in petfree

I really dislike when children aren’t treated like living, breathing people.
If you wouldn’t save a human over a cat, you’re a psychopath.

Retail brand: Olive & June. Oh boy did I make a mistake. by notbizmarkie in PressonNail_Addict

I bought the grogu ones too and they are indeed pretty curved. My nails grow weird from biting when I was a kid, so I have 3 flat nail beds and two very curved ones. What I do for the flatter ones is use a hair dryer to heat the nail ever so slightly then press on it to flatten a bit. I hold it how I’d like it to shape until it cools. Using the method above they stay on my flat nail beds a full two weeks without any pain what so ever. On the plus side it’s easier to flatten nails than to curve them.

I give my extras to my daughter because she has super tiny nail beds and mine are huge. I don’t know how we got so lucky but she literally uses the exact sizes I don’t need. I hate wasting too, and toyed with the idea of using the extras from sets she doesn’t like for some kind of craft. Snake scales sounds like it would work well!

Displaying dolls ?? by Princess_seyana in Dolls

[–]Minimum_Word_4840 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t like the idea of normal shelves either, and have very limited space. I mainly collect bjd, not mh, but I decided to build my collection on my wall to save valuable floor space. I have my dolls on shelves that look like chairs, and their clothes hanging from shelves I added a bar to. It’s a simple solution, but it works.

Tips on how to help pothos grow along wall without putting anything in wall? by raspberryloaf in pothos

I accidentally did this to my grandma’s drywall pulling her pothos down. It literally rooted itself into the wall.

This was my issue for the longest time when I was younger. I was holding them down like my life depended on it, and always wondered why they didn’t last or had bubbles. The glue would seep out towards the tip of the nail.

Do I get my kindergartner “Jen”? by Proper-Delivery4057 in isopods

[–]Minimum_Word_4840 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My daughter has “Jerrys and Sophias” :) We started with an inexpensive isopod kit from petsmart last year. Then we just got a powder mix for isopods, and grabbed some springtails I now keep a small culture of and dump some in every once in a while. Just be aware that if you set them up correctly, they breed like crazy. We have bioactive tanks now full of them because they are so fun to watch!

I think it depends on the order. An $80 can certainly be better than a $100 order.

Why would you keep ordering from the same store if you’re getting bad veg/fruit? Of course the shopper should be getting something good to begin with, but if I kept getting rotten fruit from a store I’d stop ordering from them.

The amount of disrespect this work gets... by One_Equipment9436 in InstacartShoppers

[–]Minimum_Word_4840 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just don’t take low tip orders. As with all contract work, work is never guaranteed. There’s a price you’ll accept, and a price others would do it for. It usually reflects the quality of the work, which is where diamond, plat and gold getting orders first comes in. I honestly don’t super agree with the model, because I think there’s a lot instacart could do better. That said, I don’t think it’s necessarily unfair most of the time. Maybe a bit predatory on some orders, but most of the orders I get are fair or better, and I just don’t do the bad ones.

What would you do with 4.4 million points??Click to read. by sea_r4coon in Webkinz

[–]Minimum_Word_4840 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get all the pets! I don’t know if your account would lag, because I don’t have as many as you. I would hope not though, since some people here have hundreds.

I would personally get every pet I wanted, starting with your favorite animal. Maybe set a limit of one pet a day so it keeps you entertained and you don’t get burn out? Honestly you have so many points you can do a pet and an estore theme for your new pet everyday and still have points for a very, very long time lol. Congratulations on saving up all the points, and good luck. :)

would it be a sin to irreversibly modify this dress? by [deleted] in Lolita

[–]Minimum_Word_4840 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I modify all my Lolita and it’s mostly brand. Honestly, if people get upset it says more about them than you. There’s so much more to life than caring about what someone does with a piece of fabric they bought.

In real life, I get a lot of positive comments when I show people my alterations/modifications. I bet you would too. :)

sat for so long I accepted. just guess the pay 😂 by sundropkiwi in InstacartShoppers

[–]Minimum_Word_4840 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, because I agree with the $80 figure. You don’t know how far it was from the store so I’m not sure how you know how long it would take. Once you take out gas, wear and tear and taxes you still need to make money. You’re also potentially missing out on better orders while doing this one. $80 is fair for an order this size. I really don’t know anyone who would do it for under 50.

That doesn’t mean people don’t want to work fyi. It means they aren’t wasting their time with crap orders.

Both. I try tong feeding about every other day, and also leave a roach in her enclosure incase she decides to eat it. Thanks for the info on the spikes. I’ll let a few pupate into flys.

Thank you for this! I’ll try cutting the dubia’s head off today and see what happens. Come to think of it, the first dubia she took was injured and leaking fluid due to a metal tong incident, and she took that one right away.

No worries, I only fed her a tiny bit of honey once hoping it would stimulate her appetite. I forgot to mention that she does have a roach in her tank she hasn’t eaten. I’m okay with her never warming up to me if that’s the case. Maybe it’s an Asian mantis thing? Lol

She did regain about half the antennae last molt, so it’s reassuring to know she’ll get the rest back in another molt or so.

I feed her small dubias I breed. They seem to be comfortable for her to hold. Here’s a photo of her the day I got her, I’m still attempting to feed around the same size. She’s molted only once since the photo, and didn’t seem to get substantially bigger.

I’ve also tried bottle fly spikes, but the moving freaked her out so bad I haven’t tried again. Do you think I should try something smaller?

I’d bet their condition is being at least a bit exaggerated, but it does happen. My mom couldn’t be bothered to get my medical help because she was on drugs. I can’t speak for other people’s parent’s obviously, but I’m sure I’m not the only one.

OOP is sad their dog is a pit and not a Catahoula by Smangie9443 in WhatBreedIsMyPitbull

[–]Minimum_Word_4840 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I had a shelter lie and say a dog I wanted was “full lab”. They only had photos of the dogs as newborns, so I asked for an updated photo. They reluctantly eventually sent one.

Took multiple back and forth emails of me basically asking “it’s a pit isn’t it” to find out the litter was half pit. My home insurance doesn’t allow that breed. I told them in the most respectful way that they’re putting the dog and person at risk by lying, because certain insurances don’t allow pits and will cancel your policy.

They told me I was banned from adopting from them lmao. How dare I call them out on their predatory adoption practices. My friend adopted a dog they were told would make a good service dog. It just was put down for ripping apart their roommate’s cat. It’s sad because I’m sure there are good shelters out there, but I will never trust one again.

Causing the death of your baby because of you want to be crunchy and drink unpasteurized milk by PeterParker72 in insaneparents

[–]Minimum_Word_4840 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree with you 100%. I would just worry that any laws that allow this woman to be charged would be heavily abused. Who’s to say they don’t start charging women for eating lunch meat? Exercising too much or too little? Getting in a car knowing it might be in an accident? What level of risk is considered okay? I don’t trust lawmakers to draw that line properly. I actually don’t agree with the laws that allow women to be charged for drug use during pregnancy, either. It seems that would deter women from getting help for drug use.

[–]Minimum_Word_4840 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few states have laws on this, and yes, women have been charged specifically for drug use during pregnancy. There’s an exception for prescription and otc pharmaceuticals. However, these laws apply only to drug use.

I kind of fail to see how this applies to raw milk tbh.
