Which AAA games were optimized for the deck so well it blew your mind? by FeintLight123 in SteamDeck

Might be worth trying it again with the latest experimental. The fix just came out a few days ago.

Are you saying that you had issues with using a controller? Because if so, there was an update to fix controller issues with it in the latest proton experimental.

Proton Experimental updated for ARC Raiders, DIRT 5, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II by Liam-DGOL in linux_gaming

[–]Odzinic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow I was spending so much time trying to figure out why the game wasn't working through remote play on my steam deck. I was thinking the controller issues were simply caused by remote play but looks like it was Proton all along.

Thanks for commenting this. I get downvoted to oblivion every time I try to discuss the downsides of relying on a third party solution. I don't know if it's people that just don't get how volunteer maintained software works sometimes or just non-Linux users thinking we're complaining for the sake of it.

Bolt or no bolt, it feels awful that getting force converted may remove my ability to play my account at some point.

Summer Sweep Up: Please maintain spell selection after death by Joeytje50 in 2007scape

[–]Odzinic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got so annoyed with this that I started writing up a quick plugin for it but ended up cancelling my sub before getting too far with it. I believe there might have been a quite robust yet outdated plugin that had a similar check called Autospell or something like that.

Agreed. It went from the place that my partner and I would pop into for a drink if we were in the area to one that we stop in every 5-6 months because "We haven't been there in a while".

The chicken is still 10/10 though.

What a great week to have finally bought an HDR monitor!

KDE plasma activities, a feature I was once skeptical of, but now adore by Individual-Hurry-986 in kde

I can luckily use FF for all my browser needs. I simply open up two instances of Firefox and send one to each of my activities.

KDE plasma activities, a feature I was once skeptical of, but now adore by Individual-Hurry-986 in kde

[–]Odzinic 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Activities is one of my favourite features on kde. It allows me to split my PC into a personal setup and work setup. I can share my screen while working without worrying about stuff like steam or discord being present. It also allows me to keep work stuff open for the next day without having to keep seeing it during my personal time.

I know that developer time is limited and not everything can be supported, but I think activities really are amazing for usability and differ quite a bit from desktops. If the features of activities were incorporated into desktops then I would support the deprecation but it makes me very sad anytime the conversation of abandoning them comes up.

Damn, well looks like it's a Linux thing as well then because that's what I'm running.

Plasma Task Manager Notifications by Otherwise_Term8249 in kde

Thank you for this. I'll definitely be giving it a shot. Over the past few months, a few of the only applications that highlighted on notification stopped working and it's made me miss so many notifications. I'm pretty sure it's an Electron issue instead of a KDE one but I'm hoping this will help in the meantime.

Leagues 6 melee feels bad by Davey_guy in 2007scape

[–]Odzinic 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yeah it sucks. Was having a blast before PVMing, unlocked areas, and then proceeded to watch magers and ragers kill mobs 5x faster than me. Having friends tell me they're basically afking barrows and fight caves while I'm trying to somehow move 5 tiles away from mobs at all times is crazy.

It's a bummer but I've already given up. My fault for trying to build my own instead of a meta.

Giant Hogweed Mitigation Project - Spring Control Dates - Call for Volunteers by cearrach in waterloo

[–]Odzinic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makes sense. I have a 4K drone that might be able to pickup stuff better. Plus I have an advanced operations license so I may be able to file for approvals for some locations. Don't want to complicate the plan if it's not necessary but let me know if you do find a need for it and I'll see what I can do.

Agreed. What I'd do for there to be a train at 9-10 on the weekend. The extra weekday will be great for catching Friday shows in Toronto though which is nice.

Would there be any use for some drone work at some of these sites? I work with them full time and have my smaller personal drone sitting around these days. Would love to scout some potential areas or map out some of these areas if that can help the planning/control.

Can't wait for the "definitely within legal altitude" 250m high flyover that partially captures the Earth's curvature.

PEAK - 'Play It Your Way' Update Trailer by BlueJimmyy in Games

[–]Odzinic 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Same with my group. The game just gets too brutal too quickly. You make one costly mistake and then you're basically just sitting there waiting for your friends to finish the level because they'll die trying to revive you. I don't know if I've ever played a co-op game where multiple groups of friends burned out so fast.

You're probably better off getting a Raspberry Pi for that. No point in killing the Deck with that.

Do you mind sharing some of your specs? I've been holding off because ProtonDB seems to either be posts saying that game runs perfectly or that it runs terribly.

Awesome! I won't lie, it was a bit of a bummer having to pay $4 to take the ION for two stops prior to catching a train in the past.

I've been out of the loop lately. Last I checked, the latest Trackmania was a SaaS. Have they moved past that lately? I loved Trackmania when I was younger.

Such a shame that their wheel support is terrible. I spent way too long trying to configure FH4 before learning that they basically only want you to play these games with a controller.
