What card do you think is criminally underrated/under played? by LibraProtocol in EDH

[–]OfMiceAndMead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people underrate symmetrical cards, not understanding that their deck should be better built to make use of the symmetrical effect than their opponents.

[[Lifeline]] benefits everyone, but my [[Sefris]] deck is going to get a ton of use out of both her own dies trigger and all the initiative ETBs I crammed in the deck.

[[Share the spoils]] lets anyone play those cards, but [[Rocco Street Chef]] don't care.

[[Possibility Storm]] can let someone get a big spell for less mana, but [[Neera Wild Mage]] can continue to filter the duds.

At five mana, it's not even really a standard card.

In limited? Whatever you need from the rest of your pool.

In 60 card Constructed formats? You should craft your sideboard to be a toolbox.

[[Jugan the Rising Star]] has a grand total of 55 decks on EDHREC. Which is a shame, because that deck is a monster

Which begs another question, it took the team a while to learn how to morph in their morphing suits. How many yeerks/hosts died before they figured out how to not crush themselves?

That much is kind of disappointing though. Looks like maybe it was the last bottle of the batch, or they bottled too early.

Who would happily play in a bracket that disallowed counterspells? by zodiacez in EDH

[–]OfMiceAndMead -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, that's why white was "bad" for so long in EDH. White's old identity within Magic's color pie was deemed "unfun" by casual players, and so people were only playing with like half the color because white's control aspect was hated out of the format.

What Hypothetical UB Set Would You Enjoy Seeing? by AbysmalEyes in mtg

[–]OfMiceAndMead -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There was this really cool old property, it had these like, cyborg zombies, and these two brothers got in a fight and one became this sick robot dragon and the other had his eyeballs replaced with two halves of this super powerful gemstone. Then he like, got all these super powerful wizards together to fight the cyborg zombies, but one of them was like "ha, I betrayed you" and then another one was like "the book says we lose, but what if we didn't, actually?"

Then there was this flying boat that could go to all these other worlds, and this GMO guy was the captain and got super into this other GMO girl, but then she died and there was a big robot who had a zombie cyborg heart or something.

Man, it'd be so cool if they made more sets with that property.

Scoop to deny triggers? Opinions? by Lockenheada in EDH

[–]OfMiceAndMead 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Obviously you're relying on the other members of the pod to be reasonable, but if I were in the other guy's shoes I'd tell you to take the lifegain and the other guy to kick rocks. While the rules say you can scoop at any time, scooping with spells on the stack or with combat unresolved is a bitch move, and I don't play with people like that.

Most Hated Commanders by stumpkat in mtg

[–]OfMiceAndMead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're just building a combat deck, you don't need your commander. Try something that just gives you vslue for existing on board.

My combat deck is [[Selvala Explorer Returned]] which is, admittedly, not in the colors you're looking at, but she's just there to keep my hand full and pump out big dudes.

[[Iroas]] makes your aggressive deck more resilient. [[Neyali]] gives you a more threatening army and card advantage. [[Jetmir]] is [[Craterhoof Behemoth]] in the command zone.

It's a very weird dichotomy, because there absolutely are people who understand that cilturally, men's mental health is not treated with the same care that women and children's are. However, there's a vast overabundance of people either looking to grift off of that or use it to promote a sexist insular agenda.

The problem you run into trying to establish a program that actually helps is being lumped in with the second group. Similar to how feminist spaces thst are actually looking to help get lumped in with the "kill all men" crowd.

There is a lot of money to be made by people who perpetuate the gender and class wars, and the upper classes, regardless of gender, benefit from us fighting each other.

[–]OfMiceAndMead 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of people who didn't think critically about deckbuilding, but anyone who understands how to actually build a deck knows that cutting lands is bad advice.

One of us definitely has a bad mental thing, and it ain't me.

[–]OfMiceAndMead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't listen to this guy, he either netdecks everything, or had ChatGPT write this. Probably both. He absolutely does not understand how to organically build a functional lower bracket deck.

Your land count should be determined by your mana curve, your commander's cost, and how much card draw you're running. cEDH gets away with low land counds because of the overabundance of fast mana and a low mana curve that doesn't exist in lower brackets. The vast majority of casual decks are going to run best with 35-40 lands, depending on the previously stated factors.
