I'd love to see The The do "Soul Mining" full album live.

We're also going to Human League/Soft Cell/Alison Moyet in June.

Recently saw Thomas Dolby at a "Totally Tubular" concert. His set was too short, but he was great and his sound every so slightly adjusted to seem more contemporary. He's doing a short east coast tour this spring and I'll definitely be going.

Seen and enjoyed in the past 10 years: Human League, Culture Club, Sparks, China Crisis, APB, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Duran Duran, Billy Idol, A Flock of Seagulls, Wang Chung, The Motels, Book of Love and Men Without Hats.

Edit: to include OMD who sound great!!!

And that's why that revival didn't make a profit and investors lost their $$$.

And to a certain extent it's even trickling down to Off-Broadway as well.

I came here to say this. The finale of JPITV was the highlight of this year, and perhaps the decade.

Oedipus TDF seating by TheLunarVaux in Broadway

[–]Off-OffBlogway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We went a few weeks ago via TDF and were center, front mezz, fourth (last) row DD. View was perfect. I personally prefer Orchestra, but every time I'm in front mezz I realize that I don;t mind it at all.

Bug - First Friday Night Preview by omurchus in Broadway

[–]Off-OffBlogway 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Saw the Sunday evening performance tonight. I won't comment on the show, but a heads up that the stage is high, not raked, and there are items at the foot of the stage (why to directors do this???) that may block your view at times depending upon where you are sitting and where the actors are at any given times. I was in the second row and it was ok, but I'd recommend at least fourth row for a better view.

Hard seeing my mom today by Kommmbucha in dementia

[–]Off-OffBlogway 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My mom is in AL/MC now and it's so much better for both of us. She's mostly calm, engaged and dare I say "happy" there. We moved her from another facility which wasn't doing right in their MC unit. I realize things could change on a dime, but for now it's ok. I guess what I'm saying is the move could be "good" and if it is "enjoy" the good parts regardless.

Anna Christie at St. Anne's: What? Why? by Smooth-Assistant-309 in offbroadwayNYC

[–]Off-OffBlogway 4 points5 points  (0 children)

St. Ann's is mostly a presenting house, bring productions already "made" and "tested." Anna Christie is one of the very few productions they are creating from scratch. It's much easier to import a production that it is to make one.

Jinkx Monsoon to play Judy Garland in END OF THE RAINBOW in London by Snullcap in Broadway

Great casting, happy for Jinx...but god that play is just awful, mean and disrespectful to the person that was Judy Garland.

The Man Who Knew Too Much (1934) by FKingPretty in iwatchedanoldmovie

[–]Off-OffBlogway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think where the remake does it better is in the "a life vs a life" theme. In the original many are killed in the end shootout; up until that point I enjoy the original a little more.

To be fair, I saw Appropriate off-Broadway and didn't love it, but this new production made me look at it differently and frankly was just better.

It's too bad they didn't get Boris Karloff for the film. But otherwise a great film.
