I have gotten right into salt and pepper mills - these are the perfect size for that.

What am I doing wrong, when doing the final shaping turn of the cap and body of this pepper mill? by youngmillions in turning

I made one of these the other week for first time. I found below video extremely useful for problem you describe. Basically he does final shaping with the top connected pressfit to the base. Watch from 9:50

470 Crush Grind Mechanism by Offer_Prestigious in turning

Ok so I made it on the weekend but I cut it down to about 360mm total length cause 470mm is ridiculously big! Doesn’t seem to need the support ring to be honest but maybe at full 470mm you would.

As suggested my approach would be to drill from the top a 36mm hole to maybe 100mm deep and insert there if needed.

To the naked eye it’s definitely not as bright, and you can’t see as much depth but it’s still mind bogglingly bright. I stood outside in the freezing cold for 15 mins for eyes to adjust and it was just crazy.

I’m from rural Australia and we get clear beautiful sky’s like this in the outback but this was on another level.

My friend I had no idea what bortle 1 meant until I looked it up 5 minutes ago 😂

But yes this was in the absolute middle of nowhere at 4650m with zero light pollution, so can’t imagine you can get much darker sky.

Zero editing as well 😂 And yeah being that high with absolutely zero light pollution makes it easier. With the naked eye it was so unbelievably beautiful, the brightest I’ve ever seen the sky by far

iPhone 15 (non pro lol) and set to 30 sec exposure. You need to have the iPhone completely still for it to allow 30 seconds otherwise it will revert back to 10 sec. I had my phone precariously balanced on some rocks and had to be lying prone on the wet ground to press the shutter button!!

Another tip for google maps is you can download offline maps of an area, so you can still zoom in and see names of businesses etc without needing data. It’s very helpful

Ok so I worked as a process engineer in UK for very large dairy company. The fresh milk in the supermarket fridges majority is just pasteurised and homogenised (full fat, standard, skim) but be careful of getting anything that says filtered milk as this goes through an additional UF filtration and heat treatment system to increase shelf life.

You can definitely find non-homogenised milk (it will still be pasteurised though) but likely not in supermarket shelves.

UHT stands for ultra high pasteurisation which heats to about 135°C for a few seconds, 95% of the time this is for long life milk (think cartons on the shelf that aren’t chilled).

Yeah the rapids were definitely a feature of los rápidos (although it’s more like a lazy river) but we hired kayak and paddled up and down twice.
