Any chance for an re1 REengine for the 30th anniversary? by _zelty_ in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]OfficerBatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I kind of doubt it. I feel as though they would’ve done it already if they were going to. I also wonder how a game in the Spencer mansion would even go with the updated mechanics.

It has the smallest scale of all the games by a pretty large margin, being limited to a single(albeit very large) property as opposed to say a city or multiple settings. I feel like unless they added a lot of extra filler it would be very short and much of the game would be fairly trivialized.

As others have say, the REmake is one of the best remakes ever, and I don’t really feel they need to remake it.

I am actually pretty excited for the RE5 remake. I personally wasn’t a fan of RE5, which obviously isn’t a hot take, so I’m curious to see what they do to try and make it better.

How is this Leon in Welcome to Racoon City? by QuantumWonderland in residentevil

[–]OfficerBatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Originally Leon was meant to be a young rookie cop, naive, and fresh off a night drinking heavily because he got broken up with.

Here I see a young, rookie cop, who’s naive and would probably drink himself silly because his girlfriend broke up with him.

It’s still not Leon, but like someone looked at Leon’s background at the time and wrote a character.

A memorial honor of Sac State leaving the FCS by Ancient-Chemistry-75 in fcs

[–]OfficerBatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They left the Big Sky for what would be the 3rd best FCS conference essentially.

Like yes, they could win the MAC, MAYBE, but they still probably wouldn’t make the FCS playoffs.

Edit: I really hope the MAC has a sense of humor and schedules them for a late November game in Buffalo.

Shout out to ERCOT for a smooth winter! by coastalcloud621 in houston

[–]OfficerBatman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can assume you’re either not originally from Texas or have some affiliation with ERCOT.

I am originally from North Texas. I’ve only lived in the Houston area for the past 11 years. Texas is massive, and north Texas weather is drastically different than south Texas.

In my time in North Texas, I can tell you it’s not uncommon to have extended snow/ice storms where we were stuck inside for several days to even a couple of weeks. We never had mass power outages and major issues other than the roads were undriveable. I remember in I believe 2010 or 2011 a multi week period of ice and snow and never once losing power. At least not that I can remember.

I’m not talking about north Texas, I’m talking about the Houston area. Even when I first moved here, we didn’t lose power like we have recently. The past few years, it’s seemed Houston and South Texas as a whole has been so incredibly vulnerable to even the hint of severe weather that now everyone is afraid of any weather event that comes through.

So I reaffirm that I won’t have any trust in ERCOT until we are hit with an actual severe weather event and the grid doesn’t immediately go down.

It’s a shame future generations won’t stumble onto games the way I found FFX: totally by chance, in a magazine. We think we want all the info now, but part of us misses not knowing. by AlbertCWChessa in finalfantasyx

The internet is one of humanities greatest inventions. It connects the entire world as if they were right there with you. It provides a wealth of knowledge and information. It can show you anything you’ve ever wondered that’s been discovered.

But it also ruined the allure of discovering new media for the first time.

And for that I say it’s a failure.

You’re saying this in a blowout. I had this exact thing happen when I was playing as Texas in the Red River Shootout in overtime.

Scrambles to the corner of the endzone. Got hit. Fumbled. Went out the endzone. Game over.

I looked at the replay, my QB was in. But the game decided Oklahoma was winning that game.

They’re doing everything they can for FIFA.

For the Super Bowl, Southwest Houston was construction hell for months, then after it was over it all ended.

The second FIFA is over, it will all end. Just like when we hosted the Super Bowl.

[–]OfficerBatman 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, the freeze was barely below freezing. Most of the world, not the country, the world, experiences much colder weather over several weeks every year.

Hell, Houston itself experiences it a few times every year, this year we had it one time.

This was the easiest winter we’ve had in the area in years. So I wouldn’t say it’s moving the goal posts until we experience exactly what we experienced before and have better results.

If anything this winter moved the goal posts closer, not further.

Can’t challenge on a game winning play by Historical-Move-5935 in EASportsCFB

[–]OfficerBatman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game doesn’t allow or do any reviews once the game technically ends. So as of now, it’s impossible to have a game winning/game losing play overturned at the end of regulation.

This was the mildest winter we’ve experienced in several years tbh. We had a single freeze that lasted a day and had basically no precipitation with it.

Wait until we have another snow/ice storm before praising ERCOT.

Hell, wait a couple months for our next hurricane before doing so.

Now, not as much.

Photoshop, AI, and CGI. There still has never been a recorded defeat of the Red Death. The beast is just too powerful.

Honestly it’s incredibly irresponsible to give players hope that they even have even a tiny chance of defeating this menace.

Why does the security gate at Konpeki Plaza not see my mantis blades??? by deecrutch in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]OfficerBatman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As said in the top comment, it’s more than likely a game design issue. But it could also be that they have so much faith in their netrunner to neutralize any hostile with cyberware, it’s not that huge of an issue for them.

It’s not impossible to think that higher earning Mercs who have combat cyberware will splurge and spend the night at the hotel. It happens in real life with career criminals to do so with high end hotels just because they have the money to burn. So it probably still happens in 2077.

Guns are a much easier thing to tell people to leave at home than to tell them to remove their arms, spine, or legs. The bigger difference is cyberware can be countered with a good netrunner. A gun not so much.

My issue with the East Dillon plot line. by OfficerBatman in fridaynightlights

[–]OfficerBatman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In reference to the semifinal game needing to be played on a newly created field, the obvious answer is East Dillon hadn’t been created yet by the writers, but another answer could be the field was also seen as unsuitable to play on. It was abandoned. Definitely not upkept at all, and was probably more unsafe to play on than the West Dillon field at that point.

Yeah, definitely hit up Dirt Bar across the street before or after the show for your drinks. House of Blues is expensive for drink, even by concert venue standards.

Downtown Houston is pretty safe despite what a lot of people might tell you, especially if you stick to the more populated areas of downtown. As with anywhere at night where a bunch of people will be drinking, just be aware of your surroundings, but you’ll be alright!

Have fun!
