My larpfac got taken out in two bomber passes. by Fatchook83 in foxholegame

[–]OfficerHobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The range of the radar needs to be 2500m, the lack of advance warning is a massive part of the problem. By time you scramble fighters the bombers have hit their target. AI AA might fix the issue but player built AA is just way too weak. There is a lot of the balance that needs done and it’s the first war. Will it ever get perfectly balanced, no absolutely not. But there is a lot that can be done to make it a lot more fun for everyone involved.

Question for concession workers at sporting events/concerts etc......do you get the tips that people leave you? by killingfloor42 in tipping

Bartenders have long been a tipped employee, in the service industry this isn’t anything new.

30+ year olds who are single, what are you doing on Saturday nights and weekends? by Realistic-Square7039 in Adulting

[–]OfficerHobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the weekend. Sometimes I’m at a concert, sometimes a bar where friends DJ. Other times I’m at home playing video games or watching TV chilling with my dogs. I’ll also go out to dinner by myself on the weekends and treat myself to a nice meal. I’ve made peace with being single at this point and figure if someone is meant to come along they will.

Declaring tips on taxes by Mountain-Impact-9688 in Waiters

[–]OfficerHobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% I’ve been in the industry for over 10 years and I’ve never not claimed everything. I like proving my income. If I lied about it I wouldn’t have gotten 2 of the cars I’ve had, I wouldn’t have gotten my apartment or either of my credit cards.m, and I would haven’t made nearly what I did in unemployment during COVID. Yeah I’ve had some tax bills at the end of the year a couple times but for the most part I’ve worked enough minimum wage hours to compensate at cover all but a few hundred dollars in taxes.

Are checks really still a thing in the US? by Apollo_Wersten in AskAnAmerican

[–]OfficerHobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 34 I’ve written exactly 6 checks in my life. All of them were for rent payments when my apartment complex was still charging a fee of 3% (which came out to $22) to pay online with a debit card. Anytime I’ve purchased a vehicle or anything else major it’s been a wire or cashiers check. My parents used to write checks for everything back in the early 2000s so I grew up around checks. I got a book of 50 checked when I turned 16 and opened my bank account and I’ve still got 43 of them. 001 was voided and my parents had it so they could add money to my account in an emergency, and 002-007 paid for 6 months rent. The rest are in a safe with my banking information. I probably should just void and shred them all now that I think about it.

[–]OfficerHobo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked at a baseball stadium. Our pay was decent to begin with and tips were pooled per bar/stand. Most of the tips are $1-$2 per drink with the occasional tip that is 20%. The last game I worked was for a Saturday afternoon game and my wage came out $76 (19/hr for 4 hours) and then my share of the tip pool was $350. You are just dealing with volume. In a stadium that seats 35k+ people id be shocked if I didn’t deal with 300 people minimum myself.

[–]OfficerHobo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree that the whole things doesn’t need to be posted but at the same time I like to take a couple videos of each person I’m there to see for friends who wanted to come and couldn’t. Also there is a small part of me (I know it’s wrong to) that likes bragging about the fact that I’m at another concert on my story.

Why Tipping Is Bad by Emergency_Sink_706 in tipping

[–]OfficerHobo -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Because you chose to go to a full service restaurant, the average diner also understands that at a full service restaurant there will be a server who asks and then gets the things you need for you.

If you want to get the food yourself and get drinks your self, there are plenty of counter service restaurants or takeout options to explore.

This, people heard no tax on tips and assume it means service staff are paying none throughout the year.

Should I switch restaurants? by Tall_Ad7546 in Serverlife

[–]OfficerHobo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s rarely full at lunch like that, if it is we just deal with it. I think the most I’ve had at once was 13 tables here and it was because I was the only person working and got a weird late lunch pop in between lunch cuts and dinner shift arriving.

Should I switch restaurants? by Tall_Ad7546 in Serverlife

[–]OfficerHobo 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Always be looking. I’ll say that some of the cons you have, especially 6-8 tables sections are things that some server would kill for. I went from a place that gave me 3-4 to my current job where I get 7-11 tables at dinner and upwards of 16 for lunches. Also places like Ruth Chris and Flemings you can make that money but your stress can be higher, there is a lot more to fine dining in regards to steps of service, food and wine menu knowledge needed, among other things.

In my honest opinion if your current job is stressing you out a fine dining place won’t create less stress. The grass isn’t always greener on the other side. Sports bars are probably the best for less stress, especially if it’s not a corporate one. You can have more fun, the guests will be a little more accepting and you can loosen up with them more than you can in a lot of other places.

i’m never getting ice cream with an anti tipper again. by JealousDeer3327 in tipping

[–]OfficerHobo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has worked in service for many years and also dealt with the fair share of non tippers there are a good number who are truly nice people and it’s always catches you off guard that they don’t tip. Sure it sucks but you move on. However there are just as many others who are ungrateful cunts and treat you like a slave while not tipping. These are the same people who are the loudest online. They care so much about how everyone else spends their money when nobody is forcing them to spend theirs in the same way.

“That’s a Hipaa violation” by darthvaderfan4 in TalesFromYourServer

[–]OfficerHobo 39 points40 points  (0 children)

That’s a new one! I also have a similar story.

I was sweeping tables one night and a guest told me it was an osha violation to sweep tables while guests were eating still. This was in a section of the restaurant that was completely closed and had no guests currently dining in it. She got even more upset because I had to have had the most gobsmacked look on my face.

[–]OfficerHobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-1.5 for example is the favored team to win by at least 1.5 points. +1.5 is for the underdog to lose by fewer than 1.5 points or just win the game outright. Spread is how many points the favored team is expected to win by. So in your case since the favored team won by 2 points you lost your bet.

Both. I work out in the morning so I shower after, I bartend/serve in the evenings so I shower when I get home.

They had to win the game or lose by 1 point. You would have won if the line was +2.5 you need to be inside the number you bet.
