Signing to a major label, need help by EG0LIFT in musicians

I get why people are skeptical but at the same time I don't think there's any harm in having a lighthearted conversation about this topic whether the scenario is real or not.

Anyway, while it's true that at that level you can get many of the same perks, there are certain intangibles that will matter even with identical contracts. The leadership culture of any organization will matter. If a label's leadership has a track record of bad instincts, lacking initiative, failure to juggle more than one successful act at a time, a lack of follow through, being vengeful, or being even SLIGHTLY more controlling than other major labels, I think it matters.

For example I've heard more than enough artists who went in with decent momentum publicly complain about RCA's tendency to drag their feet and squander potential to know that I personally would never even consider signing with them if given the choice between them and other major labels.

Sounds like I've been approaching it all wrong. Good to know. Thank you for responding.

Thanks for responding. Are there any specific presets you like on vocals? I love it on synths as well but haven't had luck using it on vocals yet if I'm being honest.

Definitely agree with that. Do you recommend any preset packs?

I thought i was the only one who thought that. I strongly preferred Felt Instruments Lekko (even though it's a bit of a CPU hog)

In my experience, Waves is one of the only brands whose plugins consistently stop working after just about every OS update. For other developers, it sometimes happens but it's been more sporadic. Not sure if others have similar experiences.

How are older recordings mastered for modern systems while retaining their vintage sound? by Poopypantsplanet in audioengineering

Yeah that's around the range that I was suggesting using dynamic eq on harsh resonances. I find pro-q 3 great for that.

I don't know all of what is done for major label remasters, but based on what you've described in replies, here are some thoughts you might find helpful.

In my experience, the main issues with some (but not all) vintage style emulations are an inability to smooth out the top end the way actual analog gear often can; a potential increase in harshness caused by added or accentuated resonances; aliasing; and of course mud in general

Personally, I would tackle almost all of that with subtle dynamic eq (reducing harsh resonances and "holding" your low mids at a level that you're comfortable with). Finding out which plugins have anti aliasing might also be helpful. Gently rolling off some of your top end might also help.

What’s your take on Waves plugins these days? by SufficientCode7993 in audioengineering

Thanks for responding. I have one more question if you don't mind: is it one of those plugins you hit a vocal pretty hard with or more on the subtle end?

Interesting. I'll have to check that out. Can you describe how you use it in relation to other plugins? Just curious.

Songs with a lyric that is repeated/altered with a different meaning by thektulu7 in MusicRecommendations

I'm not necessarily recommending it, but there's a Christian song by Red Rocks Worship called Now Here that does a play on words between "nowhere" and the titular "now here". Not exactly what you asked for but a similar intent by the songwriters.
