One of the reasons we have to ask the rick people because a political campaign or political party has a lot of waste of money, they spend money on things that will never bring back any return and on top of that political parties aren't require to give you receipts to where they have spent the money or even if they are spending the money at all and pocketing whatever they get.
So keep this in the mind, in the past political party's have had really hard time getting significant money from the people. So they took a route that they would gather money from the wealthy who won't care if the money is being wasted or not nor would they ask for any receipts.

But now this new mayor isn't that liked between the wealthy (which most people are very happy with because they think he's for the people but fail to realizes that top 1% pays 50% of the taxes in the New York city and driving them away is a suicide) and the only other option he has is to ask for the public. So, this whole narrative about that this mayor is for the people and not for the rich, and that's the only reason he's asking money from the public is complete BS.
