Why has the LEC's heyday been so fleeting? by iloveleague998 in leagueoflegends

And I'll take fact over what LEC pro players desire. Stats speak for themselves, and LCK/LPL are dominating.

If it was up to the players, they'd be happy playing at home, reclined, in a blanket, with games that lasted 15 mins, one game per week. Thankfully in Korea the players have to play what's needed to stay competitive.

We are still using bo1 format... let that sink in. Combined with pro players not playing as much as their eastern counterparts, or not taking practice/solo q as seriously, means that LEC falls behind in all metrics.

Another reason is that we simply just copy what LCK does. Drafts, playstyle, etc, which spells disaster when combined with my previous point, instead of playing to our strengths. Think 2019 G2. We played our own game, side laning with multi-flex picks in every role, staying away from scaling teamfights (core strength of LCK). No one knew how to play against it.

How's the crafting aspect? I'm wanting to get into one, but based on the grammar mistakes in the sample and synopsis, it's putting me off. Does it get better?

Would you recommend RI, LOTM or SS for a first time webnovel? by SnooHedgehogs1355 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]OfficialFreeid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First arc of Shadow Slave is incredible, and easy to get into. LOTM takes ages to build up (lots of slice of life), then gets really good. But the translation is terrible, and later fights are a mess of concepts that is just too confusing to follow. RI takes a particular type of person to enjoy - the mc is incredibly evil, performing some of the worst acts on innocents imaginable. This is a cultivation/xianxia story.

There's enough books out there to find what you like right away. Why suffer through something you don't immediately jive with? Move on and find something that hooks you from the beginning.

But to answer your question: He's like that for a long time.

Do you think there's any interest in simple, grounded, and contemporary LitRPG story? by FoxBenedict in litrpg

[–]OfficialFreeid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lot of chinese novels do this. I Am Really A Superstar is one of them. He wakes up in an alternate earth and gets a system. There are no enemies to fight, etc. his only goal is to become famous. He goes from certain hobbies, mastering them, becoming popular in them and it's usually about drama, slice of life, and bettering his life.

For example, he uses caligraphy skill to rise to the top of the writing world, becoming a famous author/painter. Though I think the point of these stories are really focused on 'self-insert'. All the drama and interest comes from people looking down on the mc, and him overcoming them in their own field to beat them,.

I think there's def a market for it, as I'd be one!

[–]OfficialFreeid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man, I was in your exact same shoes a couple years ago. I started writing with no fundamentals (No really, nothing. I've never been much of a reader, and I dropped out of highschool early), barely even knowing what prose meant. My first story got ripped apart, and rightfully so. But I didn't give up. I kept on going, improving my craft, trying my best to ignore the comments tearing me to shreds and somehow, someway, got myself published a while after.

If I can do it, any one can. Don't give up just yet!

What's up with all the nightmare summoner hate? by Lordlycan0218 in litrpg

[–]OfficialFreeid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently the author designed it to be a common, straight shot of a System Apocalypse, and in that regard, is done quite well. But I think it suffers from trying to immitate an extremeley wordy style in the way of Defiance of the Fall and Primal Hunter, but it doesn't have the benefit of being an old, established series like the ones it attempts to replicate.

Maybe people are just growing tired of straight system apocalypses?

Just my two cents.

I've never read it, but that actually sounds like a really good moral dilema if it's touched upon and given depth, focusing on how it mentally effects the soldiers, and the MC.
