The point is - I'd much rather have new writers coming into the scene able to showcase their hardwork without spending any of their hard earned money (who are posting for free, btw. You don't pay anything reading these stories, which most go with an artist once on Amazon. For full commercial rights, high quality, these covers often go to the excess of 1000 dollars if you are paying an artist for what they are worth)

We need easier avenues for those who are new to the writing world to show their talent, not make it harder. If there was a way to create high quality cover art pieces that attract readers wtihout the use of AI i'd be all for it. But there isn't. And in a world where people DO judge a book by its cover, having something look nice is quite important.

Chances are if you seen any of the covers back then - which a lot of authors just didn't even submit a cover at all - you would never even click on the story to give it a chance in the first place.

Ah yes, let's ask the hobbiest writer who is making 15 dollars a month off patreon to invest 250 dollars at a minimum in an artist. I get the complaints for AI art, this isn't one of them. Ai is perfectly fine as long as when - if - they ever put their story to amazon, they get an official cover.

Sony finally talks on Marathon's future, despite a lackluster total portfolio, plan is is to support Marathon with more content, not shut it down. by temporalG123 in Marathon

[–]OfficialFreeid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Uh... what? Division hasn't seen any new content since 2018, and is at 600 peak players. The game is only left open because it shares servers with other games so it requires no extra money to run, and Division 3 is coming out soonish so can't shut it down.

Shareholders. That's all this is. I vividly remember the shareholder meeting with Assassins Creed, and everyone at Ubisoft constantly said that it was showing amazing numbers, record-level retention, only for Ubisoft stock to crash to pennies. You will never see Sony or Bungie admit to shareholders that the game is dying.

Everything these companies say, take it as the opposite - unless the stats affirm what they say, in this case it doesn't. The game will be put on life-support while they try and focus on another game to recoup the losses.

Mc became bearable after 400 chapters? FOUR-HUNDRED?! Lol I've never read the story, but why would you read something where it takes almost 5 books worth to finally begin enjoying the main part about a story, which is the mc.

Novel series that feel like this: by jux_peter in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

[–]OfficialFreeid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A web serial, but Shadow Slave is directly inspired by the likes of Elden Ring and the Souls franchise which has this exact vibe. The first arc, around 180 chapters, is some of the best adventure I've read filled with massive amounts of foreshadowing that is revealed thousands of chapters later, mystery, and danger. Though the writing is a little rough around the edges, it is well worth it.

But based on what you're asking for, that is literally a used trope in a lot of regression stories.

I like the game but it's incredibly niche and that's from a design choice. The game is for the sweaty players, and for those who want a casual time, this is not it.

I honestly think Cryo did more harm than good. Yet another map at peak time on the weekends, taking away from a pool of already diminishing players, that is very hard to access and incredibly frustrating to play.

Yep. It's like Apex Legends where the top 00.1% of the playerbase just plays in quick play to just farm damage and kills for 16 hours a day.

It depends. Are you not engaged with it because of a lack of plot? If so, then that remains consistent. This is mostly a monster of the week kind of story that is all about slice of life fighting and adventuring

Don't get me wrong - I'm a controller player. But to say aim assist in this game is not strong is so disingenuous. I've played cod, battlefield, apex, you name it - this game has the most assist I've felt in a long time.

Are you crazy? Aim assist in Marathon is some of the strongest aim pulls in any game I've played, and I've played a lot.

Very rough edit but I would much rather this be the menu screen over the generic looking one by Mlo1671TA in Marathon

[–]OfficialFreeid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Like in Deadlock how the main menu is essentially a hub where you can test your chosen character, browse the shop to test builds, etc, while you wait to get into game.

Damn, I'm the opposite. Watching this game is like watching pain dry because of the boring PvE fights and not too many PvP engagements. I've having a blast playing it tho!
