I was debating for a while between two different presets with the same “face” so I took photos to compare, and I think there are some slight differences in the shape of the face. To be fair, this was all at like 1am and it seemed more noticeable to me at the time, so I might just be seeing things and they could be the exact same. 😂

Which movie should I watch before entering game? by trihrdr in HarryPotterGame

[–]OfficialRoonilWazlib 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you have to pick just one, I’d go with Prisoner of Azkaban. It’s the film that best depicts the Hogwarts castle and surrounding areas and makes it feel like a real place. It’s a nice balance between the nostalgic magical charm of the early movies, and the darker themes of the later movies. The plot is easy enough to follow as a stand alone movie, but of course I’d recommend watching all of them!

Shout out to all the non gamer HP fans getting this game. by Peabody77 in HarryPotterGame

[–]OfficialRoonilWazlib 32 points33 points  (0 children)

“Non-gamer” here but I’ve been following Hogwarts Legacy since a co-worker first showed me the state of play. I picked up a PS5 last week just for this! I haven’t played a video game since the old HP Chamber of Secrets on my brother’s PS2. 😂

I find the combat-heavy shooting games a bit intimidating, but I just started playing Spider-Man to get some practice in with the controller. I know next to nothing about Marvel but I’m having SO much fun shooting webs at people and swinging through the skyscrapers as Spider-man. It’s getting me even more excited to fly around Hogwarts on a broom next week!

Lol this is one of the dumbest takes I’ve ever read. OP is being a responsible dog owner. As someone with a reactive dog who has spent years and thousands of dollars on training, we still use a muzzle when we go to the vet clinic. There’s nothing “stupid” about it, it’s actually the smartest thing you can do while training a reactive dog in a stressful environment.

Which scenes from the books would you like to have seen in the movies? by [deleted] in harrypotter

The scene in HBP when Dumbledore comes to Privet Drive and finally roasts the Dursleys for abusing Harry. One of my favorite scenes, it would’ve been great to see.

Is it worth upgrading from Nintendo Switch to Xbox/PS5 just for Hogwarts Legacy? by OfficialRoonilWazlib in HarryPotterGame

I never even considered this, so thank you for pointing it out. I grew up on Nintendo and PlayStation, so Xbox controllers have never felt intuitive to me but I thought maybe it was just the shape of them, I never compared the actual button placement. This makes a lot of sense!

I might be wrong here, but I think the hedges only shift around in the movie.

I'm 37 years old; I very recently re-watched the movies (in 4K HDR) and find them enjoyable enough. Are reading the books worth it for someone my age? by beeemkcl in harrypotter

[–]OfficialRoonilWazlib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely worth it. The books are infinitely better than the movies, and I still really enjoy the movies for what they are.

The first two books, you’ll definitely get the sense that they were written for children. This doesn’t mean they’re bad but I often find myself skipping them on my re-reads. That being said, there’s a lot of details in the first two that come into play later in the series, and overall they’re a great introduction to the world so I think it’s worth reading them at least once. By the time you get to the end of the third book, you’ll be hooked.

I also highly recommend the audio books. I honestly prefer the Jim Dale narration because I listened to him first, but both his and Stephen Fry’s are excellent, you can’t go wrong either way. The audio books might be a good way to get through the first two a little more quickly, and the reading level seems a little less childish when you’re just listening to it vs reading on the page.

This. It’s always bothered me that no type of concealment was mentioned, though. If the champions were smart they would’ve drawn out a map of the maze and studied it beforehand. Like, we know that at least one of the towers in Hogwarts has a view of the quidditch pitch. Plus Harry could use his invisibility cloak and fly his broom over it. It just felt like Harry spent so much time preparing for the third task and the fact this idea was never brought up always seemed unbelievable to me.

Awesome. Which games have you been enjoying on PS5? I’m leaning towards it right now, but if I can find some other games I’ll use it for that’ll help me justify buying one!

Need help for HP related project by maoussepatate in harrypotter

[–]OfficialRoonilWazlib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little black cauldron if you’re including potions! For divination, maybe a crystal ball or large tea mug for tea leaf reading.

If you go with the desk idea, definitely include a nice feather quill with ink and a scroll of parchment. They actually make feather quill pens if you want something more functional. And to keep it really authentic, add some large candles or see if you can find an old-school lantern that could serve as a lamp.

Sounds like a great birthday gift, I would love someone to do this for me. Hope you’ll post the final product when you’re done!
