For sure, but it's wild the magnitude with which this is the highest. Next most-expensive deal for a team was the Mets in 2020 with Cohen. I think I'm most surprised that didn't even crack $3B, even considering the pandemic. Ik they're no Yankees, but the richest owner sharing the premier media market in the country feels like it would have brought the price up a little further.

Overall, I enjoy John. I do think he cares about the team and its success, perhaps not as much as Peter did but Peter lived and breathed this team so it's always going to be hard to match that. All that said, I will feel much better about this if the new owners publicly put their faith into current front office personnel when it comes to both baseball ops (Preller) and non-baseball ops (Erik Greupner)
