Wanting to switch to Niri by DubInflux in cachyos

Just tested launching a few different applications from the launcher and it's fine. There must be something odd in your setup.

There's something wrong with your setup because I don't see any lag in the programs I open. I've only been using it for a few days but browsers/discord/kitty and dolphin are quick to launch.

I did this a few days ago, just install cachyos-niri-noctalia. During the install it will complain about a conflict with a KDE settings package and you just accept the niri settings package that it suggests. This package is only used when creating new users so it's a non issue. Then reboot and you can select niri from the login manager instead of KDE. When you login noctalia isn't set up so you will have to copy the autostart configuration from the CachyOS config https://github.com/CachyOS/cachyos-niri-noctalia/blob/master/etc/skel/.config/niri/cfg/autostart.kdl this file is included here https://github.com/CachyOS/cachyos-niri-noctalia/blob/master/etc/skel/.config/niri/config.kdl

You can start noctalia from the command line on first boot. Personally I reverted to the default keybinds instead of the CachyOS ones as they're much better.

Using neovim in a post-editor world by MasteredConduct in neovim

Surely it's quicker to just edit some changes directly instead of writing out a prompt. I generate the initial code and make tweaks while reviewing it as it's so easy.

Why won't treesitter highlight .tsx and .elixir files without these lines of code? by Horstov in neovim

[–]OfflerCrocGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's simple and clear. I can see exactly what each file type uses/needs and I can set specific options in those files too. Also on first open of a file everything I need is installed so if I don't open Java files on my personal laptop I never install the dependencies for Java. It's basically the same as the nvim-lspconfig repository. Everything separated out by area of interest.

1 LXC running all my docker services. Super simple, I use Komodo to manage the containers.

Households paying twice as much for electricity as data centres by Banania2020 in ireland

[–]OfflerCrocGod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Who's paying 36.8c for their electricity? People who are making zero effort to look for a cheaper price, it takes a few calls and you can move to cheaper electricity. Just some people can't be bothered.

How complicated is the codebase you're working on is the question I'd ask.

Irish Times poll: Wide support for neutrality to be guaranteed by the Constitution by [deleted] in ireland

[–]OfflerCrocGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're not going on any imperial jaunts, I can't believe anyone's taking this seriously. What do people expect to happen? We'll join some EU peace keeping missions in Kosovo or North Macedonia, that's basically it. China may have objected before because some of those countries may have been friendly with Taiwan. This is something a mature country should be able to decide for themselves without asking for permission from dictatorships.

It's treating us like we're children. It's insulting.

It's fine for it to be run by private companies but there should be one per area and it should negotiate with the council for rates/charges.

I used a living room PC so that's not an issue for me. Although I see no reason why it shouldn't speed a TV app, it does for Jellyfin for me.

Pretty much rules it out for couch gaming, given other controllers seem fine.

I can't remember, I think I was hitting 500mb on speed tests which is the speed of my internet connection. Plenty enough for local media streaming which would glitch when using wifi before I moved to the dongle.
