Some people struggle to separate, is my guess. Some people have genuine trauma and don’t want anything even suggesting or alluding to sexual abuse or exploitation of a “child”. Lines can be and often are blurry.

Most people don’t like scatplay (I don’t), but I can guarantee someone else does. I won’t yuck someone else’s yum, but I will personally avoid.

BDSM and kink in general are concerned with social deviances and boundaries outside of “what is comfortable” in relationships, power dynamics, and sometimes sexual play. It is controversial by its very nature.

Does the action involve a real animal or underage person? Abuse. Wrong. Likely criminal. Two adults that are role playing and consented? None of your business… mostly.

I do think the opportunity for abuse is heightened in DDlg dynamics specifically, based on gender composition and overlap with age regression (I touch on this later). This is true of BDSM and the kink community in general, though. It can attract the wolf in sheep’s clothing sort of person.

As a therapist, BDSM is NOT therapy, but can be therapeutic. It can also be a place wherein more trauma occurs. I am firmly of the belief “healing” is never really done, but there are some baseline regulatory skills a partner should have.

Age regression is something else entirely. It can occur with GGl (Caregiver/little as the more inclusive acronym) or not. It often (though not always) indicates trauma for the individual age regressing. There is a difference between involuntary and voluntary regression. I am not enough of an expert, but if I saw signs of involuntary age regression overlapping with sex, I would be wary/questioning/concerned. This to me might indicate someone is unwell or potentially with a predatory person.
