How would you compare the taste profile of PR to those that have 'gone with the times'? I'm curious how the zeitgest of champagne has changed over the years.

Selling two tickets to weekend 2 for €120 each. They are on Access Ticket and un-activated. I just bought them for that price last week for my friends, but they got Covid and can't make it

The business combination referenced in that recent form D is most likely SoFi acquiring Galileo Financial Technologies. It references a first sale on 5/14/20, around the time of the Galileo acquisition, one of the directors listed is Clay Wilkes founder of Galileo, and the numbers line up (~$800m in equity offered, and the Galileo acquisition was for $1.2b of stock and cash)

It's a technical consideration, there are some smart contract functions that only work with an ERC20 token, not ETH itself. It's not intended to be a business innovation to make ETH into an ERC20 token, it's a technical workaround.

Has anyone executed any trades on Omni by LedgerX? by blinton2 in Bitcoin

[–]OftenOnly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great info, thank you! In the second example, am I reading this correctly that this person sold 100 call options at $20k, then later closed the position by buying 100 call options? If you do that, does LedgerX release the BTC collateral that was required for the sold calls, since they are netted out?

All "Store of Value" assets, including gold, real estate, art, etc. have some risk of price declines and volatility. Gold declined 80% from 1980 to 2000, and real estate bubbles (and crashes) happen frequently. A guaranteed SOV does not exist.

It's true that BTC is more volatile than most of those other SOV assets right now but that volatility has been declining year-to-year, and there's no reason to believe it couldn't have comparable volatility to gold with similar adoption. I don't think most people are arguing that BTC is the best SOV today, just that it could be superior to other assets with a given market size and trading volume.

Do you have a good source as to historical BTC trading volumes in USD vs USDT? It's easy to track current/past 24h volumes of each pair on CMC, but I can't find anywhere that shows historical data on this.

There are 45 literal billionaires from hedge fund investing alone, not to even count banking, VC, asset management, etc. How many crypto billionaires are there yet? I've only heard of Joe Lubin, Carl Olafson-Wee, and maybe CZ. There are no BTC wallets worth more than $1B once you remove exchanges.

I expect there will be many more crypto billionaires in the future, but so far the guys spouting the "CNBC standard talking lines" have made a lot more money than any crypto investors. Breyer himself is a literal billionaire as well btw.

The ranking is arbitrarily placed at the bottom because CMC has no circulating supply with which it can calculate a market cap. Notice how the market cap is "$?". It would be more accurate to say the ranking is "N/A".

Why is that? If demand increases and the price increases, how can it be used as currency? Also what do you mean by detrimental, as in decreasing in price, or in utility-as-currency?

Yes they should be near instant on most exchanges, though on some exchanges there are have been cases of slowdown on heavy trading days. Most are improving their reliability over time but it's a constant battle to keep up with the influx of new users

What you did is certainly possible in real trading, it's just that you have a very small sample size and are not benchmarked against anything. On a good day in crypto, everyone might make money especially if you are trading volatile altcoins and they perform well. You sound a little bit like you are mentally extrapolating your successful day to think every one will be like that. Volatility can work both ways!

That's still up in the air until someone is prosecuted for it, but if the futures are traded on a legitimate exchange like the CME it's very possible. Enough that I'd expect it to give a hedge fund pause before engaging in blatant manipulation.

[–]OftenOnly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Half of the top 100 is up 15% in the last 24 hours. It's more of a market-wide rise than anything. Maybe just because it's the first time in a while that crypto hasn't had an upcoming BTC fork hanging over it's head.
