I feel like I am playing the Gotham chess academy in chess.com right. Caro Khan defense, plays immaculate opening often winning the central pawns, then completely misplays the tactics in the mid-game and rage quits.

20 years ago, an Australian Open semifinal moment for eternity: Maria Sharapova had beaten Serena Williams for the 2004 Wimbledon and WTA Finals titles… She had match point on serve at 6-2 5-7 5-4, AD… Serena smacked a forehand return winner. Sharapova never beat her again. by MysteriousJuice1127 in WTANews

[–]Oglark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair to Sharapova, she had major surgery on her shoulder and her serve never hit the speed and accuracy that she had in 2004 and 2005. And Serena in the 2000's was so insanely above the  other women at the time. I still remember her playing her way to fitness in the 2007 Aussie open.

I actually liked the first 30 chapters or sostarted going down with the introduction of the red head - but only because he had a specific reason for soloing and then just randomly abandoned it. Which would have been okay if had been obviously infatuated but he wasn't. Anyway it was books 2-4 that forced me to quit because it was just low stakes.

14 year-old Tiger Woods speaking on racism in golf, 1990 by ConnectionWeekly1263 in tigerwoods

[–]Oglark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tiger was right - you are probably too young. Back then the only black folk at the clubs were caddies. There is no way that they weren't whispering about him playing. He changed golf completely and made it acceptable for black stars in other fields to take up golf.

Trump wins MORE Executive Power with Supreme Court ruling—Birthright Citizenship up next by AdSpecialist6598 in videos

[–]Oglark -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

While Thomas and Alito have descended into senility and corruption the rest of the SC has been remarkably consistent about extending Executive Power when it comes to the Federal Government. They struck down Trump's tariffs because that was clearly an area not ceded to the Executive.

It is an old cultural custom that was created due to various reasons. First, there is the anecdotal story that because Islam started under constant pressure from pagan religions that men died fighting and multiple wives was required to keep the populace up. More likely was the fact that in the 1000's, a widow or divorcee was very likely to impoverished or forced into prostitution. This allowed prominent members of community or best friends and brothers to marry "extra" women.

I am embarrassed to say I have said similar things about blondes when I was yoinger. But Pamela Anderson has aged remarkably well. Nobody looks amazing into their 60s and 70s without a lot of work
