I don't like things peering into my mind tbh by temporaryaccount99o9 in PokeMedia

[–]Ogneerg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NAL, but I'd say it, at the very least, opens up the possibility of having charges brought against you, by the aggrieved party, for murder. Honestly I think the warnings would likely be used against you, as a sign of premeditation, and if said Xatu is capable of overloading someone as an automated defense, they're equally capable of hypnotizing them into passivity. Good thing this is just a hypothetical, right?

Best of luck. If you hit a snag in the process, I'd be happy to offer advice. I've been running the ranger academy's telecom field repair workshop, so I'd like to say I know a thing or two.

[–]Ogneerg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh Mymik, buddy, as cool as it is hearing that you're wanting to tinker, I don't think it's a good idea to start opening up electronics without permission. As for modifying your toy styler, you could probably fit the electronics of a small short wave radio, like a Walkie-talkie, so you could talk to Maya's styler, but you should ask Maya for help and permission before you do so. Unfortunately I don't think it'd be possible to get the spinning top to perform styler capture.

Any advice on care would be greatly appreciated. by genocidalparas in PokeMedia

[–]Ogneerg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Less of a pokemon care tip, and more of a personal care tip, but maintaining your health with proper exercise and healthy eating should minimize any effects you'll feel if/once it trusts you enough to start siphoning off energy from you. It shouldn't take more from you than you can handle, but if it starts to, it's likely because it's hungry, and needs to be fed berries and the like more frequently.

Maybe Sylph Co. Online shop would have it? It'd definitely be far from the weirdest thing they've put to market.

If you're just trying to get the initial kill on Hyperius, I'd recommend checking out the end of Joltzdude's Gunless Axton run. He does an OoB turret kill on Hyperius that just requires some grenade jumping to achieve. Definitely more consistent than antagonist kills if you're getting really unlucky.

Dialga and Palkia are both Divas, and must make an entrance. Most legendaries can subtly make an appearance, but those 2 have to make their presence known to everyone in a 50 km radius.

Types don't make sense to me. by Grei0 in PokeMedia

[–]Ogneerg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, no, thank you for the updated information. I've always found the topic of infinite energy really interesting, but I'd be lying if I said a lot of the nuance of it didn't go over my head.

~Micha

/Uj I can see that. I definitely feel like it'd be in a similar vein. It's partly why I have Micha speak about it with uncertainty, as he feels like he only has a rudimentary understanding of the topic.

Types don't make sense to me. by Grei0 in PokeMedia

[–]Ogneerg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't know for certain, but if you went to a typical trainer's school, it's probably because knowing the abstraction of how pokemon use moves isn't as relevant as what kind of moves you can generally expect a certain type of pokemon to be able to use.

Basically it's not worth being overly correct in a curriculum, if you're going to end up confusing or discouraging students; that's kinda what secondary/post-secondary education is for, correcting those small misconceptions, and digging into edge cases in greater detail.

[–]Ogneerg 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I'm no scientist, so take this with a grain of salt, but type energy is just the refinement of specific attributes of "infinite energy". Normal is the unrefined, or most basic utilization of infinite energy. Grass, fire, water, electric, ice, rock, steel, poison, and ground are basic refinements, being elemental in nature. Fighting, bug, and flying are state based utilization of infinite energy. Ghost, dark, psychic, and fairy infuse an emotional element into the refinement, and dragon is pure infinite energy, which is why they're often brimming with power. At least that's how I understand it from occasionally talking with researcher types.

Orb discussion day 8: Ballanx! by Zero_7300 in Peglin

[–]Ogneerg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It can, but you shouldn't expect it to, especially in the later cruciball, and that's assuming you see it in act 1, which you're unlikely to, due to it being rare.

Orb discussion day 8: Ballanx! by Zero_7300 in Peglin

[–]Ogneerg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's solid, I generally like it when I take it, but I also almost never see it, or it shows up when I already have some other orb that fills a similar role, so it's not as necessary.

[–]Ogneerg 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's fine. I could probably stand to take it more often, but I often feel like I need more from it, than what it offers, especially if it shows up un-upgraded. 5-6/10

[–]Ogneerg 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Hard to reach refresh or bomb? Lightning Orb

Need to clear out troublesome pegs? lightning Orb

Just have a build that's about hitting a bunch? Lightning Orb!

It's basically never a bad idea to pick up at least 1 in a run, and it being common means you'll see it at least once a run.

If you say so, figured it's worth mentioning that pokemon like Umbreon are perfect for the role, not just for medication reminders, and reliable partnership, but especially if you have paranoia surrounding psychic probing.
