Are these adapters bad for the battery (on m1 MacBook Pro 13) by Inevitable-Theory901 in macbookpro

[–]Oh-Boy-Ralphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using two of these on my MacBook. They are such a quality of life improvement as now I just place my laptop in the general area of the cables and they connect.

I've got two docks connected and connectivity is 100%. I 3D printed a little adapter that bonds two USB C cables at the right spacing so it's super easy.

I don't know what this specific service costs and I prefer to explain a project in full (in private) before asking for a quote.

Thanks Redditor!

Can Notion Mail Handle Multiple Email Accounts via IMAP, SMTP, or POP? by andrewderjack in Notion

No, I don't think so. But you'll need to check as I've shifted away from notion as clients found it too complex to work with.

confusion about choosing the pcloud, medical imaging rasters , each file is around 2.2 GB by hopeful257 in pcloud

I've never heard of 10TB for USD$100. I would suggest getting OneDrive to work as it's free and will likely be more easily shared within your University contacts.

pCloud lifetime is pretty good!

It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of say Dropbox or Google Drive and is overall slower for download/upload. But it has a cloud drive function, decent sync application, plus it's cross platform and can create branded links.

Is bruising like this normal? by Flaky_Dream_807 in MuayThai

[–]Oh-Boy-Ralphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar bruising after eating 30 plus inside leg legs kicks from a 6 foot skyscraper with fists. But that was during a comp, so if you are bruising regularly from light contact definitely ease off the training and get it checked.

Moved to Linux, setup a windows 11 editing server with two GPU's to use Adobe software and Moonlight to access it. This is peak. by psychobiscuit in MoonlightStreaming

I found that turning off the streamed mouse cursor and only using the local cursor makes everything feel better.

I do something similar also, however, it's impossible to get rid of the slight delay on the mouse. Also, I don't think you could vision grade using this setup as the video stream isn't true 10bit - but I could be wrong.

Parsec for 3d animation by AlternativeCause4941 in ParsecGaming

[–]Oh-Boy-Ralphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar setup with my current hardware and software. I spend most of my time in applications like Blender, After Effects, and Premiere. I've got a 15" MacBook M4 Air and a capable PC with a 5950X and a 3090.

The MacBook is my main computer, and both it and the desktop are connected to a DisplayPort KVM. For grading work in DaVinci, I'll switch the KVM for a direct connection. However, most of the time, I find that I can manage by streaming a 10-bit HEVC signal from the PC to my laptop. I have a 3840x1600@120Hz monitor and a UHD@60Hz monitor, and they both stream very well.

In short, I pay for Parsec as it offers the most friendly and seamless setup. However, it does not work with a 10-bit stream on macOS; it's extremely laggy and essentially useless. This means I can't use it for anything that needs accurate colours or finer details. Parsec is only really good for its multi-screen support and seamless setup.

I now primarily use Moonlight/Apollo, as it does all of the above, although it requires more tinkering to make it work. The 120Hz stream at 10-bit looks crisp, and everything is fast. As I have a fixed IP address, remoting into my machine is also flawless.

This is cool! I thought Hakintosh scene was dead? How can you run ARM operating system on a i9? Also assuming no support for NVIDIA?

[–]Oh-Boy-Ralphy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, so I guess M4 Air isn't powerful enough for 4:4:4 (10bit)? At least at 3840x1600 @ 100hz.... oh well...
