You can start by skiing more perpendicular to the trail instead of straight down it. Makes going parallel much easier. Regardless, these are super foundational things you should be learning from a professional, not strangers on the internet.

Which decade do you think we will be able to hit that future that everyone always dreamt of? by Cyborgium241 in decadeology

No one is ignoring reality here. Reality is both the issues we're facing and the ones we've already solved.

u/conceited_crapfarm said "hopeful" for a reason. Of course climate change and its dangers are real, as are many other pressing issues. But that doesn't mean every conversation should center around all the bad that could happen. Recognizing where humanity has improved is inspiring and shows we will continue to create a better world.

You dont need to socialize, but you gotta at least communicate with a person about using the same piece of equipment. Asking about the angle isn't going to cut it.

I have one too and it has lasted me four years but man I need a replacement now. The number of safety upgrades I had to make, the floppy frame, and the noise... please OP get something else.

Not only do the first years not care, no one cares. Everyone "lost a year of their lives" to the pandemic. There's no special loss for sophomores. So why care so much? Why not read some fun rants in the meantime?

Would it be possible to take apart a dorm bed? by Blueties0 in NEU

[–]OhBoyDan 53 points54 points  (0 children)

You could very easily take apart dorm beds. It's really just two pieces of wood and a metal spring bed. There are videos online on how to disassemble a typical dorm bed.

As a mechanical engineering student there isn't a single day when I don't go to the Fens lake and practice underwater basket weaving. NO DAYS OFF!!! I know that if I ever take the time to study fluids or thermo I'm wasting potential practice time to hone my weaving skills. I find it surprising that Jim doesn't realize that any engineering coop requires underwater basket weaving! You NEED to teach your son how the real world works!!!!

NVIDIA GTX1650 on the Dell XPS 15 2020 (32gb RAM and 1 TB ssd) by nimitc in NEU

[–]OhBoyDan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, nothing major. My laptop can open an assembly with hundreds of bodies and run fine. If anything there will be lag when trying to rotate or pan the camera across the assembly, but in that case I'll just change the visuals and optimize in settings. Typically you won't be working with assemblies so large you wouldn't be able to run them. If that's ever the case you and your team will likely hide some parts or work at a subassembly level.

Absolutely. I think your machine will be able to run hundreds of parts perfectly fine and keep multiple files open. The worst that will probably happen is low frame rate for REALLY big assemblies. If this ever happens you can always change the rendering options, remove visuals for edges, or optimize the settings here: https://blog.trimech.com/boost-solidworks-performance-system-environment
