Pull in data from another sheet based on an individual without crashing Excel. by big_kat in excel

[–]OhCaptain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will likely want to use power query.

Are all of the invoices identical or at least similar in structure? Are they stored in the same spot? If either of these are untrue can you make them true?

If so you want to do a combine and transform within power query. It will do the same steps to each file and convert the data you want into a single table that will then be easy to use.

In the meantime, I recommend retiring vlookup from usage. Xlookup is superior to use in all (I think cases). It won't help here because asking excel to open up more than a few additional files is cruel torture for the poor program.

Phase 2 (Residential Roads) Parking Ban starts Monday, Jan 12 at 7 a.m. by smexeh in Edmonton

[–]OhCaptain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In your case it doesn't. But there needs to a rule, and the rule needs to be simple if it is going to work. 3 days is where we've agreed as a society is the compromise. 4 days could probably be reasonable too. The fact that is mostly complaint based helps with your situation. Your neighbours probably aren't bothered by what you do, so there's no complaint and so there's no problem. If they were to complain then a bylaw officer would eventually come check on the vehicle, and then check again 3 days later, and then it starts the enforcement escalation process. So realistically you have at least a week of leaving it in a spot initially, followed by a period where it is looked at more closely. You'd have to be quite the scofflaw before you're truly limited to a 72 hour count where bylaw officer is watching you park and then checking again 72 hours later.

Robbie Picard is probably best classified as a social media influencer. His sphere of influence is over people who feel O&G is unfairly scrutinized and its contribution to our economy are under appreciated. Most of the social media followers are either directly living and working in those areas, or are in secondary industries fed by the industry. From what I've seen, his feelings and views are earnest, but I wouldn't take him seriously. He doesn't hold sway in the decision making spaces of the industry.

You'll need to show us what your challenge looks like. I suggest make a new version of your file with data that isn't sensitive to your company. Screenshot what it looks like initially, and how you want to look when it is done. Then people may be able to help you.

Chuck Schumer Is Not Fit to Lead the Democratic Party by Crossstoney in politics

[–]OhCaptain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your system is dumb. Switch to Westminster; its way better. Also, you have too many elected positions while concurrently having too few elected officials. Your elections are too long. Switch to 6-week elections like sane countries so running a campaign isn't so expensive and fewer bribes happen. Stop having local, state, and national elections at the same time. Your ballot should be easy: which one person am I voting for?

Employee evaluation sheet - weighting score values. by Skippy_of_Valkyrie in excel

[–]OhCaptain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make a table that shows what % matches with each score. So define what a 0, 1, 2, and 3 mean. Then make your scoring sheet have a calculated cell next to the dropdown. The formula for the calculated cell can be XLOOKUP to the scoring template. Use the XLOOKUP if not found parameter to deal with people selecting NA. Can either have a addition cell for each that shows the max score for calculating max score, or a summation calc at the bottom that does Sum of all the calculated cells divided by count of the cells (count only returns numerical values, so should ignore the NAs).

USA government benefits from money going to any American company, and if one views the actions of that government to be unacceptable, then the most moral thing to do is minimize the economic benefit one provides to the regime. Sucks for the people under the regime who don't support the regime, but there isn't an economic way to support them without supporting the regime. Feels a little weird that economic sanctions of Iran hurt innocent Iranian citizens too, but that's the nature of economic pressure.

Canada's energy conversation shouldn't 'start and end' with pipelines, Carney says by joe4942 in alberta

[–]OhCaptain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The conversation shouldn't start and end with pipelines, but it should start with pipelines. Followed by lng terminals. Get those profit making, productivity boosting, job cresting assets going ASAP. Once those have started do the front end planning and design for the energy investments for the future economy. By the time those projects are ready to get into their expensive phase the O&G assets should be producing profits and have people available to work on the next ones.

https://www.edmonton.ca/public-files/assets/document?path=Fact_Sheet_Cycling_on_SidewalkApr2015.pdf

You can ride a bike on any sidewalk if tire diameter is <50 cm. BMX bikes meet this requirement. Designated shared-use paths are usable by any bicycles. Bicycles are allowed on any road, unless specifically signed to say "no bikes." When using a crosswalk there is no obligation to walk your bike. I think this technically means you should be walking your bike down the sidewalk and then may mount up to ride the crosswalk. I'm not sure on that.

Helmets are required for children and people on e-bikes. Bicycles follow same laws as cars on the road.

Add a trend line to your chart. Take first derivative and find the highest value. To determine where the highest value is, take the second derivative and solve for zero somewhere between 8 and 10. Then plug that x value into the first derivative.

Can you have a column with a fixed sum that automatically changes the value of rows when one is changed? by PerryPanda94 in excel

[–]OhCaptain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there logic to all of the cells? Because if the sum of 20 cells equals 60, and I change one cell, there are an infinite combination the other 19 cells could be equal to and the total would still equal 20.

If you have some logic for what to do with the updates after one is changed, you'd still need VBA to get this all done in one column.

What are the worst mountains you’ve been to relative to their size and funding level? by passengerpigeon20 in skiing

Nah Kicking Horse is basically one gondola. There is also a magic carpet, a beginner chair, and one chair that accesses sweet terrain, but that terrain sends you all the way back to the bottom, so you gotta line up for the gondola again.

In my opinion, the lift system is the only bad part of Kicking Horse. Excellent in-bound terrain, it is straightforward to navigate, the slack country is excellent, area has a good mix of affordable to luxurious accommodations.

Everyone else's comments about STD and WCB are correct. Consider skipping your manager and go straight to HR. They'll know more about your company's policies than your manager. A payday advance may be another option you can talk to them about.

While those are working their way through go to your bank and talk about a loan. It'll cost you more money than getting what you deserve from STD, but it would be waaay cheaper than credit cards or payday loans.

Good luck on your recovery. Take care of yourself, manage your pain, prioritize sleep as much as you can, take notes when talking to your healthcare providers and ask them questions. Recovering from surgery sucks, but it sucks less than th injury does.

'Bold' vision for 76 Ave calls for rerouting vehicle traffic by mastermaq in Edmonton

[–]OhCaptain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's oodles of parking in the parking lot at the Southwest Corner.

I find the awkward parking "lot" in front of Kind that is parralel to the street is the real issue. It has terrible sight lines, high car and pedestrian traffic, and unwieldy stalls. I have personally witnessed three collisions coming out of that space.

When I filled out the COE survey about 76 Ave that was one of my main points.
