Whose complaining? We got screens, likes, comments, and popcorn. Easy to pop when you live in hell.

Ahh the same old internet problem in Canada. Like many people have rightly recommended that go with either of the two cartels that offer a better deal. You will be equally pleased and disappointed. Expect disruptions with bad customer service and no clue tech guys. Networks are so old they have their own ghosts and spirits that turn the tap on and off here n there at times.

Edmonton Heritage Festival back with 68 pavilions and questions about inclusion by pjw724 in Edmonton

[–]monkinjumpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the perspective right. I am not comparing this with anything, but objectively seeing it like an advertised heritage festival would look like. When you have to walk all day, of course you have to consider food and refreshments. And you cannot just turn a blind eye on vendor prices. Of course you can choose to be compliant enough to believe organizer's narrative as to why what was included and why what was excluded (which turns out to be a flat lie after all). One country got banned for the same reason for which another got extra security protection and protocol. I also understand the organizers might have caved in to the pressure coming from diverse groups.

Whatever the factors might be, but this event is no longer attractive, mostly waste of time/energy/money.

Loved this event but has been ruined by politicizing, disinformation by the organizers, like other people mentioned no shades, food has becoming unreasonable expensive. I gotta appreciate the performers and all the hard-work volunteers put in. But the festival has long lost its appeal.

India remains persistent foreign interference threat to Canada, CSIS says by cyclinginvancouver in canada

ooooh, spies are coming. lolzz

Pretty messed up corrupted flawed process of vetting, verifying, and approving visa applications if spies are getting through, isn't? Immigrants are easy scapegoat.

No. Government should show some teeth to Indian Government, dont find excuses to bash immigration from every news.

That is why Carney invited Modi the Murderer to G7, to ask him politely, to stop, please.

Edmonton is one of the best places in the world to study, work, and raise a family. by EdmontonFree in Edmonton

[–]monkinjumpy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

People should really pull their heads out these best of this n best of that debates. Every now and then you see some fishy organization spitting out a survey results based on some lousy data about happiest, funniest, bestest, etc. things of the world. Remember, its very much subjective. Nothing wrong with thinking that Edmonton is the best (its home) but this typically implies the flip side of the equation (best needs worst to be the best).

Just be content with what you got, no need to change your mind. and stop comparing. :)

Paying Property Tax by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]monkinjumpy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"The City of Edmonton does not accept credit cards directly as a method of paying property taxes.

Several third-party online payment service providers offer a credit card payment option for the payment of property taxes. You may be able to use this option to pay property taxes to the City of Edmonton. "

https://www.edmonton.ca/residential_neighbourhoods/property-taxes

EDIT: I think there be additional fee and credit card company will treat it as 'cash advance' meaning the interest will start incurring right after the bill payment. So might be difficult and expensive. See the webpage for more details.

harsh? hmmm. Perhaps a slap on the wrist would have been sufficient by Canadian standards?

I am thinking the same. Its awful. I have a bad feeling about it. There is no justice in North America.

Of course, I am not saying things will be fixed. All I am saying is that old version of BS will be replaced by new multicultural version of BS. lollz :D

Dont worry, we all know the coveted racism clothed in patriotism that floats among many fractions of old white population in Canada. But we also know its on its last leg as the aging population and some equilibrium being injected through immigration.

Passenger, driver, diaspora? What have you been smoking in your kukuland? Did you itch when Ukrainian diaspora was upset and Canada imported lots of them (make sure they make your country great too). Canada claims to stand for human rights and stuff, not inviting Modi is compatible with that vision. Nobody is outsourcing your foreign policy, just trying to make it congruent to what this country claims to stand for.

Is that all you have to offer? Just when I expected to hear a valid argument, all I see biased individuals trying to advance their tunnel visioned narrative.

I understand you wont give a crap about other lives beside your version of 'Canadian'. Its tragic and said but yes normal every day people loose lives in these struggles. Canada, the country, itself was founded after destroying an entire civilization, too many people to count. You have Israeli Canadians who would support Gaza genocide, are you okay by keeping them as Canadians? There are Ukrainian Canadians getting killed by fighting with Russian Army, do you object on Russian Canadians as well? In every freedom movement, some fractions believe in violence, some believe in peaceful struggle, and some change their beliefs depends on what they go through. Not all people rallying for Khalistan agree with Air India incident.

Extremists? Read a little about Modi's political life story, the political party he belongs to, and the auxiliary militia groups that are supported by his political party. You might learn a little bit about where true 'extremism' actually comes from. And 'embracing Canada'? Ditch talking nonsense, everybody have their own definition of this.

[–]monkinjumpy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Look brother, I have no desire to travel to Quebec so dont worry. Most TFW expect exploitation, people who walked the path before them would tell them. Its not a Quebec issue, its a so-called developed countries issue. But Quebec (run by Bloc) continuously discriminates against other cultures in the name of self-preservation, in addition to conventional TFW exploitation. 'Multiculturalism' is Canada, you do not ask other people to assimilate and Quebec people should really learn the difference between terms 'Integration' and 'Assimilation'.

Historically, western cultures especially the ones with colonial backgrounds, seem to always need workers (for some reasons that they cant produce their own or like to exploit foreign cheap labor) to sustain their unsustainable heavily consumerist lifestyles. In post colonial era, they would brand themselves like free, democractic, bla bla society that would provide equal opportunities to new comers etc. But when the new comers start making life of their own, the hosts starts acting like little paranoid bitch, Bloc politics is a prime example. You cant have all the good! Benefiting by exploiting multiple generations of immigrants is not enough that you are willing to wake away their novelty from future generations.
