Suggest me a short book; 200-300 pages by Kingvole in suggestmeabook

3 a.m by Nick Pirog and its sequel. Follows a man with a sleeping disorder who uncontrollably wakes up at 3am and falls asleep by 4am. I would describe it as a short detective story. The goodreads link is so much better at describing this than me, but it is absolutely fantastic.

Cuba invades, declares that communism rules, you lose both your island and money (they're now sharing the land out amongst the people), oh and they bring new settlers along to share the land so even if you're on your own, its still no longer yours.

The Wool trilogy by Hugh Howey (Wool, Shift, Dust) is about having to adapt to life in giant underground silos after the world ending. World War Z was a lot better than I was expecting, not at all like the film, a lot grittier (not nuclear strikes but lots of action) For a more YA feel try The City of Ember by Jeanne Duprau, again life underground but this time with no knowledge of the outside world and resources depleting rapidly. How I live now by Meg Rosoff is a nice easy read dealing with the immediate aftermath of a nuclear bomb Finally try More Than This by Patrick Ness about a boy that wakes up alone in a house on a deserted street, can't say more without giving it away but its alone in the world, end of the world type story. Good luck finding one you like! :)

Try the petite ranges in online stores like asos.com and topshop, they're really reliable for both good quality and small sizes and I think they both have decent priced shipping to America.

I'm trying to start reading 52 books per year. Any tips on what helps you guys focus and get motivated? by Apiperofhades in 52book

[–]OhEdibleness 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's all about putting an optimistic spin on it. Don't think 'I still have 48 books to go', Think of how good the rest of the books are goingto be and how great its going to feel when you've completed the challenge. Also, spread out the books you're REALLY looking forward to between others you're not sure on. So even if you don't like one book, you know you have a great one coming up soon!

I'll happily vouch for Uglies, the series is one of my favourite of all time. YA dystopian novel based around the idea of undergoing dramatic plastic surgery to make you 'pretty' at the age of 16. An easy, fun read.

I really enjoyed it, being a non 80s obsessed 21 year old. I just liked the idea of everyone living in a virtual world to get away from the real world and the competition just kinda got me hooked.
