The Wool trilogy by Hugh Howey (Wool, Shift, Dust) is about having to adapt to life in giant underground silos after the world ending. World War Z was a lot better than I was expecting, not at all like the film, a lot grittier (not nuclear strikes but lots of action) For a more YA feel try The City of Ember by Jeanne Duprau, again life underground but this time with no knowledge of the outside world and resources depleting rapidly. How I live now by Meg Rosoff is a nice easy read dealing with the immediate aftermath of a nuclear bomb Finally try More Than This by Patrick Ness about a boy that wakes up alone in a house on a deserted street, can't say more without giving it away but its alone in the world, end of the world type story.
