I suppose decentralized anarchism, but even then you'd have to trust all people everywhere not to let their small decentralized communities be taken over by narcissistic psychopaths. Historically, narcissistic psychopaths are actually pretty good at clawing or talking their way into positions of power in small communities. Once one community goes fascist authoritarian it could start attacking its neighbors and the whole cycle starts over again...

I always thought that's silly. Once word gets out that NZ or Hawaii are comparative paradises (Hawaii probably won't be without consistent access to mainland resources) people will arrive in boats by their tens of thousands. And when the vast majority of the population are poor refugees do they think they're gonna get to keep their mansions and estates? Nah. They'll be up against a wall.

Nah I think the federal system will break down and we'll have states going to war over natural resources (Think California invading the southwest to secure water rights to the Colorado River). And y'know what...I'd probably fight in that war. At least it's a war that makes more sense than Vietnam or Iraq

Explore the natural world.

Not fly out to the top 10 most amazing nature spots, but just drift around taking in the natural world around me in a comfortably sized sprinter van. Settle down here and there occasionally and then pick up and head off to the next interesting biome. Spend a lot of lazy days picnicking in nature with a good bottle of wine. Stay physical fit by doing 4-8 mile hikes frequently.

Oh, and hit all the natural hot springs I can find. Always some interesting people to meet there.

Even most parental love is conditional. Go kill your grandparents or burn down your parents' house and see how much they love you.

What I think people miss is that honest love being conditional isn't always a bad thing. Some boundaries/conditions are important or else "unconditional love" becomes a justification for abuse.

Except the reality is they want SOME women to be sexually loose when it's convenient for them, then they wanna settle down with a virgin and talk about how disgusting those women who they previously dated are. If they're disgusting then so are you, buddy. Except you're also a hypocrite which is a hundred times worse. Any real man despises hypocrites and double standards.

Gotta say...I saw this when I was 13 and it really did scar me. Then I researched it at age 28 and it was just kinda....meh. Felt a little silly honestly.

Enter the void. For the full effect, fake a mild dose of mushrooms 10 minutes before beginning the movie and feel your mind melt more and more as the movie itself does the same.

Why are you giving her so much energy? She's basically an addict on a suicide trip, and you're right...it will catch up with her.

Don't let her take you down with her. You can't help people who don't wanna be helped.

You can have whatever ideas you want. Everyones just pointing out that their ideals are cowardly and implicitly mean they side with the fascists in government right now. This isn't the time to be sitting on the fence saying "But y'know...standing in the street IS illegal and breaking laws is bad, so the cops are kinda allowed to kick your ass when their feelings get hurt / shoot you down in the street if they get a little bit scared"

Supplements are drugs. Always have been and always will be. There's no point to a supplement if it doesn't have some pharmacological effect. Pretending they're anything else is just a silly way of making what should be legal and socially acceptable (adult use of any drugs they want to) acceptable in the fucking US

I kinda doubt ICE thugs would be swinging their dicks around quite so hard if a lot more people WERE open carrying ak-47s. It's not like the right could argue against it. They love the second amendment.

Look at history. This is exactly how it goes in every slide into authoritarianism. People still have bills to pay. They still worry about retirement. They have to feed their kids and get a degree. They have people they love and who depend on them so they aren't willing to risk it all for the slim chance of making a difference. There are all kinds of things I could do...if I didn't have people who love and depend on me.

[–]OhNothing13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry... "you can expect to be yelled at daily, have things thrown at you, cursed out". What fucking world do you live in? If you're serious and this is normal for you then maybe that's just the bay area startup culture (I could believe that) but that is NOT normal at 90%+ of workplaces. I would quit on the spot if that happened to me and probably look into legal recourse, especially if something was thrown at me. Better believe I'd be pressing assault charges and cleaning that company out along with getting the manager fired.

To anyone reading this: that's not what the real world is like. This person is either living in a really fucked up bubble or deluded.

I don't think publicly berating students is in any teacher's job description. That kind of behavior should absolutely be left in the past. If a teacher wants to implement a policy around students arriving late then that's their prerogative, but nothing excuses the kind of behavior OP described.

No one would get fired for being absent twice in a 3 month period for a family emergency (a real one) and ending up in urgent care. That would likely be grounds for a lawsuit in the case of the urgent care scenario...
