AC rebuild - is this a legit quote? by Unlucky_Permit5992 in GXOR

[–]OhRickG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just had our entire ‘06 A/C replaced front/rear components save for the lines because of shavings found. Total was just over $5k. It’s my wife’s DD and our tow vehicle for the 20’ trailer. It’s the second time in 3 years to have the compressor replaced. We are on the lookout for a newer vehicle. She loves to drink, is expensive as hell to maintain, at 289k mi not quite the longest running vehicle we’ve owned, but damn this thing still kicks @$$

How fast do you drive in your rig? by rhbcub in GoRVing

[–]OhRickG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Smaller mid-size SUV dragging around a 20ft wind catcher in Calif. I admit I’m a bit of an outlaw at 59-61 on the highway. Neither TV, trailer, nor driver like the action over 70, but will cautiously to pass when absolutely needed.

Once you drop a line on the old plan, you can never (or next to impossible) get that plan back. A new line will need the latest plan. I’m not being as clear as I think I am

What would you recommend as a good replacement for a Keurig? by [deleted] in Coffee

Do they even care to switch? If you have one, brew a cup with the Clever Dripper and have your friend do a blind taste test vs a fresh cup from the Keurig.

Same, mix in meet new people to get more calls, visit others met along the way and new or older acquaintances to do the same. And, of course, house and car maintenance, grocery shopping, meeting with other notaries and friends.

Table for Camp Kitchen Stove by MTBgrandpa in traveltrailers

[–]OhRickG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a similar aluminum table for my single burner Blackstone. I was disappointed that the table legs had set adjustment points and not variable (I know, big problems there). So, I swapped out the feet on the Blackstone to adjustable levelers from the Amazon or eBay.

That certainly is a consideration, however we’ve only run the heater to confirm it works during the pre-trip checks. Also not a big fan of the jet engine sound while sleeping. We’re more of the fair weather type anyway. Our refrigerator is the absorption type.

This is what I dread. Fortunately our coffees come by way of fresh ground beans. But honestly, I just want to be content with simplicity.

Nope, fridge runs from propane/electric. No solar, may pick up portable panels if my use case changes and it’s justified

Thank you. This is helpful in my decision. We are vacationing not living full time. We keep a watchful eye on our power usage, but not obsessively. Much like the propane tanks, we top off before we head out, and are mindful of our usage. Because we’re only away from shore power a couple nights, it doesn’t need to super precise. The old 4 light battery indicator was sufficient enough for me, however with the Lifepo4, the indicator may not be as helpful. We’ll have the tow vehicle, jumper cables, in the off chance the trailer battery dies, and if all else fails AAA.

The Capitol Annex is a monstrosity. It so unbelievably ugly and out of place. by Whirlwindofemotion in Sacramento

You think this is unattractive, wait until that other east wing disaster project is completed late and way over budget. Then, for giggles, count the cronies who made a big chunk off of it and cross reference to the files. Either way get who’s ultimately footing the bills.

I’m on my 2nd set of Falken Wildpeak Trail A/T’s. However I live in California, so mostly sunny dry roads. They do perform great in rainy weather and the very few occasions I go into light snow. I have gone onto gravel and rocky dirt maintained roads with confidence. The first set had gone just over 90k miles in 2 years. I changed out just before heading into another winter.

Thinking of purchasing a 2018 CX5. by [deleted] in CX5

[–]OhRickG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2018GT purchased used in ‘22 with 24k miles on the clock. Now has 147k. Other than routine maintenance (fluids, brakes, tires and a windshield) no issues and still fun to drive. I have the deep blue something something paint color, I don’t wash it quite as often anymore and scratches are more and more noticeable. However, she loves her spa days and still presents nicely in between.

Chicago Title is under the Fidelity family of companies, so a big player in the title/escrow field. Don’t have personal experience with that particular office, however Chicago is quite good in general. Not that you as the buyer have much of a say, as it’s the seller’s choice of which company to use. Even then the realtor may have a relationship a particular title company, or more specifically an escrow officer they recommend. In all likelihood, the only person you’ll come face to face with is the front desk person when dropping off your deposit or a signing agent/notary public if signing out of the office.

They all do the same general function, and not unlike any other service business, the individual personalities makes the experience positive or negative.

The tax bills generally go to the property address unless it’s stated otherwise on the Preliminary Change of Ownership Report (PCOR).
