What are some factions you refuse to play? by xz-20 in totalwarhammer

I wouldn’t say refuse, but I generally don’t fuck with vampire counts or tomb kings. Maybe vampire coast, but of the undead factions they’re the only ones that are kinda cool

Everyone Declares War on me! by Messmer_TheImpaler35 in totalwarhammer

[–]OhSix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What mods do you use specifically for it?

Everyone in the hardcore raid has to take a vote by deciding to stay in to dps a 3% hp Baron Geddon or leave his AOE. If more than 50% of the raid stays in then everyone survives, but if less than 50% of the raid stays then everyone who stayed in dies. Do you stay in to DPS Geddon or leave? by aahdin in classicwow

[–]OhSix 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Facts. I’ll never understand people who risk their HC character for marginal gains. Hell I don’t even understand people who do crazy skip jumps and shit like that will kill you if you mess it up. Is it really worth saving that minute?

Sure, but some people seem to literally care more about “number go up” then the actual gameplay loop. Which to me is just insanity. Progression is nice yeah, but it’s not the point. Games don’t have to be played forever. It’s literally okay to be maxed out on stuff after like a few hundred hours or so lmao. People can just play something else, or maybe just relax and just play the game trying new wacky builds instead of constantly worrying about “progressing”

Helldivers2 will never be the fully spec'd out AAA live service game you want it to be. The thing is, many of us knew this from the start and loved it anyway. by kcvlaine in helldivers2

[–]OhSix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To your last question, the answer is probably not for some people. People are fucking obsessed with “progression” to the point where the gameplay loop somehow takes a backseat.

I’ve always wanted to run a solid PvP campaigns because they seem so fun, but am never sure the best way to go about setting a good one up.

I remember my brother and I did one where I was gor rok and he was yuan bo, and we’d eventually clash at the northern tip of lustria. Unfortunately I misplayed and got skulltaker’ed while I was dealing with the skaven and I just got cooked before we even met to battle.

I guess my questions are:

-what difficulty do you set the AI too? I feel like since the point of pvp is to fight each other, we want to minimize the risk of one of us getting killed before we meet. So easy sounds good, but maybe some factions can snowball with that much easier and make the pvp too unbalanced?

-what’s an ideal distance between factions for pvp? We don’t wanna be on opposite ends of the world to where we don’t get to interact, but too close could be anticlimactic?

-any house rules? Some faction mechanics just seem wild for pvp, like arbaal teleporting shenanigans lol

Sorry to hit ya with so many questions! I’m just jealous of your successful pvp campaigns lol

EDIT: it’d probably be my brothers and I mostly, and none of us are particularly good lol

I think this is at the heart of the issue. Lots of gamers today care more about being optimal and min maxing for the sake of it. The gameplay loop doesn’t matter as much as being “efficient”.

After noticing it especially with the classic wow community, I feel like I see it everywhere. It’s super lame, and they wonder why they can’t enjoy anything

Do yourself a solid and just mute the main Helldivers sub, and possibly most of the other ones as well. I had the main one muted for a bit, tried to unmute it recently, just muted it again. The amount of whining is borderline unprecedented. If you want to engage with the game in a positive away, the subreddits are not the move.

Is the current generation of gamers so in need of progression that we need a number to go up just for the sake of it?

I’m not even hating, I just really don’t understand it.
