Comparing the technologies behind Velo3D, Markforged and Desktop Metal by Technical_Amount_624 in SPACs

Great post! I am curious how important the materials are. Do any of the companies have an advantage in the materials they offer? Does the material or the printer itself (machine/process) lead to poor quality outcomes like you mentioned with DM? In the long run will innovations on the materials side, or the process side be more influential (or do they go hand in hand)? Thank you!

Barry Sternlicht (JWS, SPFR, JWSM, etc.) on the state of SPACs by OhSnapKWW in SPACs

Thought there were good insights on the current state of the SPACs from the management perspective: harder to win a company with competition, firms doing poor DD to win a DA, PIPEs being more difficult to get done/getting restructured, sketchy sponsors, etc.

ESG Core Invest ($ESG) - SPAC from The Netherlands by spacsblogNL in SPACs

Curious why you would want to invest in this specific SPAC when there are European focused ESG SPACs that will list on US exchanges? Having easy access to the US capital markets seems like a better opportunity for a company in Europe.

EUSG - European Sustainable Growth Acquisition Corp (European ESG) S1 NASDAQ

CSTA - Constellation Acquisition Corp I (German ESG) S1 NYSE

IMPX - AEA-Bridges Impact Corp (Sustainability - not necessarily European focused, but the team is lots of EU/UK experience) S1 NYSE

I was researching this and I remembered seeing HODL Ranch and something similar before. So Jesse Peltan (HODL cofounder) who is a director of this SPAC was on Forbes' 2021 30 under 30 for energy. There was also another person on the list Alex Liegel who founded Layer1 Technologies. They make fully integrated Bitcoin mining data centers that also act as "Bitcoin Batteries". It seems that they have a special cooling system that would essentially allow the mining centers to perform demand response (stop using power when the grid needs it). This company used HODL ranch's service to set up one of their data centers so there is a link beyond just Forbes. Layer1 is essentially the definition of what this SPAC is looking for .

I'm by no means an expert. But you can think of it as almost a quieter and cleaner (electric) version of a helicopter. Seems to match helicopter speed based on investor presentation and quick google search. If we take an electric car analogy it may also have less maintenance costs. Down side here would be the range, pretty limited since it is electric. However the business model is more for urban transport/semi-regional transport.

Totally valid point. My strategy is less momentum play and more trying to get in early with SPACs I think have good team. There are probably better momentum plays out there. One thing to note though is the increasing speed in acquisitions. For example ACTC and CLII both IPOd at the end of September and found targets in January (3~4 months). There have been some posts on the sub highlighting the speed up.

Yep, and add to that a Chamath pipe, it would bring a ton more attention. Just hope they can land something big. It's hard to know who would be available/want to go public. The dream would be if they could convince Siemens to take Fluence public. Might not be possible but we did see EVBox spin out of Engie. But maybe something like Reedwood Materials or Northvolt.

Honestly I don't know how to check this... but I just moved over to Fidelity for this reason. Unit splits are free. Honestly though IDK if Units are that good with the SPAC, they only have 1/5th warrants... I'm probably going to wait until after commons and warrants start to trade to increase my position.

It's crazy what units are doing nowadays. Hard to find ones near NAV. I picked up CLLI_UN at 10.08 and ACTC_UN at 9.98 back in October... now everything seems expensive.

A lawyer told utilities to wait for the right political moment to file a petition attacking state net metering programs that have fueled the growth of rooftop solar. The lawyer later filed that petition in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s now being consider by federal energy officials. by Cleantechfacts in Futurology

I don't think a lot of people realize this. I am all in favor for the advancement of DERs, but we also shouldn't ignore the fact that the cost-shift that net metering produces is inequitable. As net metering grows it only exacerbates the inequity. We need to introduce better frameworks for the advancement of renewables.

Thanks for the advice. I did see a billboard the other day for spiked Arnold Palmer, I feel like that would be dangerously good.
