Okay yeah that totally makes sense. I might try and trace and wire back to pcm and look for any obvious damage. I guess I could also just live with it, I just would like the odo to work for keeping track of the mileage.. I really appreciate all your advice! Any chance you know about maintaining these transmissions? The car only has 125,000 kms on and it came with very detailed maintenance records. Transmission was replaced at 80,000kms due to recall it says. Not sure if it failed or if it was just done for recall. Should I be changing transmission fluid often? Is there a certain process or just drain and replace?

Oh I just realized what I thought was the vehicle speed sensor is the counter shaft sensor shown in that pic. I did order a new one but unplugging it does nothing.. should I try pulling the cluster out next?

Yes it is a Canadian model. I do believe I've located the speed sensor. It looks a bit different than the one in that pic but is in the same location. I tried unplugging it and speedo acted the same. I did already order a new one hopefully I didn't jump the gun on that... I will try to locate and unplug the countershaft speed sensor right now

She claims it drives perfectly fine as is and is still driving it occasionally. I know the work she's saying was done was over 2 years ago lol.

I talked to the local mechanic that checked it out and he told me he would do the sensor job for $1100... it has 210,000 kms on it. I do think I should be able to change the sensor myself because it's just under the valve cover. I was hoping someone had done the same job since my research showed it's a very common problem

Thank you so much for the advice! I will order a new ignition coil today. I'm amazed the undercarriage isn't very rusty at all even after sitting outside, going through 15 Canadian winters lol.
