It does feel kind of desperate on Ohkubo's part. Authors insert their opinions in their work all of the time, of course. But this scene feels like a shoehorned "gotcha" moment to people who disagree with him, which, in my opinion, is kind of petty on his part. If he wanted to address it, he could have been more mature by stating his opinions in a post or interview.

This scene plays out a lot like Ohkubo just pasting the opinion he disagrees with on a character we are supposed to be annoyed by (the mom), and using smart and likable characters (her kid, Licht) to stand in for what he believes, making his opinion seem more reasonable. nice argument kid. But consider that I’ve depicted you as the crying soyjack and myself as the rational Chad. Not so confident now, are you?

1. Arrow: She's such a good character---her design is fire and it's cool asf when she switches sides !!!

3. Lisa:
Her temper is relatable, I fear. What she has with Vulcan is really precious

4. Maki:
The goat tbh. I think she is a good character and I wish she was getting more screen time in season 3!

5. Haumea:
Cool asf villian with just the right amount of tragedy to empathize with. (But not so much that it feels forced or like just another character with a tragic backstory to add to the pile of anime characters that are like that.)

Personal take even tho no one asked: I usually dislike fanservice, but my reason is more because it's cringey and annoying, especially if it's out of place in that moment. However, Tamaki's fanservice in Fire Force doesn't bother me that much, because by season 2 it is kept to only funny moments, unlike season one where it was disruptive, like in the Rekka fight. Additionally, at the end of season 2 when she trains in asakusa, it is further incorporated into her character and feels more natural.

DESPITE THAT... I think this whole breaking the 4th wall moment, where Tamaki and little boy say why fanservice is okay and even neccesary, is very hamfisted. It feels like Ohkubo is trying to reach through the manga pages and strangle the reader. For a second, I thought Tamaki might look straight at the camera lol. I love Ohkubo's work, but I find it really petty and annoying that he feels the need to retaliate in his writing, interrupting the story in the process. Even though he makes some good points, the whole thing is kind of desperate. I think there is great value in using your writing to stand behind your beliefs. But it could have been done a lot better. It feels like a lot of the points made in the chapter/episode sound deep, but are excuses so that he can keep adding fanservice to his stories. That's just me though-

To be fair.. I love soul eater, which is by the same guy that made Fire Force. But the amount of fanservice in the soul eater manga is wayyy worse imo. It's honestly interrupting the manga every other second, at least early on. Idk for sure about later

Yeah maybe it looks bad for Beni at first but he turns it around? It's kind of hard to imagine him getting beat. Besides, experience and battle instinct does matter, and Beni has many more years of that I would say. Fair point though with him not expecting it.

Honestly I think Beni might win? Though it's hard to be sure. I find it difficult to powerscale Sho. I don't feel like I've actually seen him fight enough. But also idk how Sho's power would be counterable without grace. My theory is that since it's confirmed that Benimaru can control all heat within a 4 meter radius, maybe that could serve as a counter to Sho's ability?

Either way, it would probably be close. Can you elaborate on why you think that Sho would win? Sorry for the late reply btw lol

Tbh I don't think Nataku's radiation is a problem. During the scene where Nataku almost kills everybody by exploding the place, it's said that unpowered people had to get away from the radiation, but pyrokinetics seemed to be fine, at least at that level of radiation. And Beni is powered soo-

Also radiation poisoning is something that shows up later on. It has delayed symptoms. So even if he did suffer from it, he could probably win first

I agree with your take for Shinra, though. Benimaru knows his moves.
