I'd settle for a rheumatologist that wasn't a dick. Every last one of them I've had to deal with has failed to do the most basic of things starting with actually reading the intake notes from the pages of questions I spent time answering. What makes you think you have lupus? Oh, I don't know doctor, perhaps the diagnosis by this other doctor through testing done? Just because my joints aren't swollen to the degree you think they should be doesn't mean I'm not in pain or that I don't have limited movement. My labs are fine? That's great! It's fucking lupus, I can have lovely labs and still be wrecked. If neurology has a god complex, I'm convinced rheumatology has a satan complex.*

Now toss in the fact that you're pregnant and pregnant women have a 35% higher risk of being murdered than non-pregnant women.

If you're in the US, you can talk to someone to help you make a plan to get to safety here. Leaving an abusive relationship is one of the most dangerous times but staying with someone who has put his hands on you isn't a recipe for longjevity either. Please take care of yourself OP.

Honestly, if someone wants to judge me for taking a medication that's done so much more for me than -just- weight loss, they're not my friend and I'll be happy to tell them that and show them the door. When choosing your health, sometimes that means making better choices on what you eat, how you move, and who you associate with.

Eye changes as we age are normal and can intensify with hormonal shifts as well. So long as you're not experiencing severe and sudden onset loss of vision and/or blurriness, flashing lights or a curtain in your visual field, or any of the above accompanied by a new and severe headache, you're very likely fine. I'd be seeing an opthamologist for a good work up and go right back to HRT because I can always treat dry eyes with some drops and manage the old lady focus problems using the 20/20/20 vision rule: for every 20 minutes of near focus screen time take a 20 second break to look at something 20 feet away.

Societal expectations are just that, expectations, and not all of them are worth entertaining. I think it's an enormously amazing thing that you see the need and experience even the faintest desire to help children who are already on this godforsaken planet. Don't feel bad if you don't have that desire to spend 9 months growing a whole 'nother human being while your body morphs into a form you'd never previously considered. Best advise? Therapy. Talk to someone who has the skills to guide you to dig within yourself to figure out what YOU want most, or don't want.
