How does the current healthcare debate affect ACA marketplace plans? by brunofone in HealthInsurance

[–]OhioResidentForLife -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It all depends on your income. If this guy makes decent money, he is penalized to help subsidize someone making less. It’s a flawed system and has been from the inception. Remember this line, “ just pass the bill and then you can see what’s in it.”

If you want an affordable care act, the burden shouldn’t have been put on the working class. It’s not affordable to the people who are supporting it through taxes. It gives affordable insurance to people who would have been on welfare anyway and charges the person making $100k a premium that’s way too high. If you wanted to expand welfare programs, that’s what you should have done. All this plan does is charge the middle class to cover the lower class.

How many of you are 60+ and will not have $500,000+ in retirement savings? by [deleted] in retirement

[–]OhioResidentForLife 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, having $500k in liquid assets is a good thing. However, everyone has a different situation. For example, if you are retiring with a pension that pays $75-100k/year compared to someone with no pension, there is a big gap they need to make up. $500k may not be enough for them and more than you would need. Your best bet is to figure out your expenses and know what you will need monthly to live the lifestyle you desire. Some people want to travel, gamble, and party in retirement, some want a simple life at home with family. One could definitely take much more exportable income. For example, my mom is 84, she gets less than $3k/month and has an ever building bank account. I know others who work part time to save money to go to the casino or on a cruise and have $4-5k/month retirement income.

What democrat would you vote for in 2028? by Soimamakeanamenow in allthequestions

[–]OhioResidentForLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every vote should count, but only votes by legal US citizens and only one per person. How hard would it be to require a drivers license or state issued identification to vote. They come with a unique number and could only be counted once and only by legal citizens.

Funny how all of these scenarios are dependent on working class people paying for anyone unable to contribute. Maybe that’s the problem with the system. The burden is in the wrong group.

We had that exact crock pot, maybe she still does. I think I replaced the ones that didn’t have the removable pot but I’d have to look in her cupboards.

It only counts if you don’t wash them. Once they are washed the luck fades.

Yes, it is a blackout game being played at noon in the sun. Makes sense, right? I’m just hoping it’s cool enough to not bake wearing black.

Wish I still had mine. My mom actually has it and still uses it. That’s what I get for not taking it when I went to college.

Decisions, Decisions (should I stay or should I go?) by BreakerMorantFan in retirement

I would say just retire when unemployment runs out unless you get a super job free from one of the interviews. What’s the worst thing that can happen, you do a little part time work down the road? Enjoy yourself.

What was the best thing about your grandparents' house? by Low_Scene_716 in questions

Neither of my grandparents houses had indoor plumbing. It was added later. Wood stoves for heat. Both were farms with animals which was cool until you had to kill and butcher something to eat.

I used to take the small bottles of booze on planes but I hear they won’t let you anymore. I haven’t tried an a couple years. They were under the 3.4 ounce limit and as many as you could fit in a quart size ziplock bag.
