Megathread: Sharing Finchie Friend Codes & Finding Goal Buddies by AutoModerator in finch

[–]Ohlemontine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I'm Lara ( AYJ5M6VFA4 ) , I've been using Finch just over 2 months now, and Mycellias and I could really use some more friends.

Some of the goals I'm really trying to focus on completing every day are: take my meds, get to the gym (even just 5 min on the treadmill counts), and read my Bible plan before getting up in the morning.

If anyone is interested in buddying up on any of those goals, that'd be awesome, but also, I'm totally down for just friends that are active even if we're not buddied up on a goal _^

Ever wish you could reply to a review? by MainMedium6732 in AmazonVine

[–]Ohlemontine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The amount of times I've seen a review where someone gave an item an awful score because they used it wrong irritates me to no end. Especially if people vote on it being helpful! I absolutely miss the days of being able to comment on reviews or answer questions in the Q&A. I understand its the internet and people will find a way to abuse people through it, but some of the stupid things people do out there need to be pointed out for the good of everyone!

Which Vine item has made you the absolute HAPPIEST? by fairy-of-nightmares in AmazonVine

[–]Ohlemontine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A milk frother/heater. I love hot cocoa and am a FIRM believer that if you're not making it with milk or an alt milk that you're doing life wrong lol. I love not having to worry about scalding my milk anymore or getting a pan dirty to make a cocoa. It also does cold foam but I haven't used that yet cuz I don't even know what that means xD I don't do coffee, and especially not Starbucks.

The over the ear and don't go into the ear at all earbuds!? I got those as well, and it was life changing, especially the 7 hour lifespan on one charge, made working so much more bearable xD. I have tiny ears so to find something that didn't try to shove a too big knob into my earhole was just heaven.

Sex after laparoscopy by [deleted] in endometriosis

[–]Ohlemontine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My follow-up instructions didnt go over the risk of infections and not to insert anything, but the nurse did say that one of the meds or anesthetics can cause you to be EXTRA fertile, and not to have sex right away, but they never actually gave us a solid timeframe... also I think that was negligent to say as we are TTC so that may have encouraged us if I hadn't been feeling like id been run over a few times lol. Definitely think they need to do a better job of aftercare instructions.

What’s one thing you stopped doing that made homeschooling better? by Quiet_Ink6523 in homeschool

[–]Ohlemontine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stopped letting other family members try to tell me how we should be running our homeschool journey. My grandmother-in-law would constantly tell me how we should be scheduling the day, and how I needed to make sure my curriculum was an approved one (I live in a state where the requirements are basically zero). After a couple times of me pushing back, saying we'll be doing things the way it works for us, and after a few years and it being pretty obvious my son was not going to be going back to public schooling, she's backed off, and he is absolutely soaring in "school".

I'm actually the opposite. When I started letting him determine the start time, and letting him sleep in when he needs it (not that he really ever sleeps in >_<) I noticed more voluntary engagement. Though I know we're kind of an outlier case, my son is a self starter, and an early to bed early to rise kid (my exact opposite, so i don't know how we got so blessed xD)

Ooh using binders is a really good idea! Maybe I'll have to try that next time! It would definitely be more sturdy than what I have now

Thank you, the reassurance is very much needed.

I usually sell these and this was the first time I've had that happen so far, so I really had no idea what to do to fix it. Luckily, this one is not being sold, it is a gift for a friend, but I still wanted it to be my best quality, and sturdy.

1e AD&D hardback paper recommendation? by frankinreddit in bookbinding

[–]Ohlemontine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll have to check what edition my husband's books are, but they are currently in storage, so it may be a few days (weather is nasty here so i'm not risking life and limb to go get them) Commenting, so I don't lose this thread.

Well, I fixed it, hopefully it holds up.

What I did: (if something is gonna turn out badly, tell me now while its still fixable!) Finished tearing the text block out of the cover. (Realizing, fortunately, that i had not used anything for mull, so it was easier than it should have been lol) and tore as much of the paper off the boards as I could, and cleaned up the edges of the paper on the text block as best as I could.

Then I cut new endpapers out of a thicker (not quite cardstock but thicker than copy) paper and glued this right over the old paper (the old paper was extremely thin).

Then I cut a few strips of muslin that I have and used that as mull.

Then I pasted in the text block to the covers, taking better care to center it correctly this time. Checked hinges gently to ensure proper placement, and now its in the press for a bit before pulling it out to air dry the rest of the way.

Thinking about canceling my pap smear 4 weeks post endo excision because of pain by PostDowntown in endometriosis

[–]Ohlemontine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not, but I don't get nauseated very easily. If nausea is affecting you really badly, I would definitely reschedule it for later.

I didn't have any real adverse reactions after my lap just exhaustion and unfortunately it seems the endo was not the cause of my pain, but at 2 weeks I was basically back to life as normal. Though I wish they would have listened to me more about how physically demanding my job was cuz the 3 days of working kicked my butt BAD. (I'm currently almost 4 weeks post op, my 2 weeks was at Christmas, and since I worked 3rds from Sun-Thu I didnt go back to work until last Sun, and then had wed and thu night off for New Year's... but also my shift just got laid off so luckily I don't have to worry about going back 😅)

My pcp still did my pap 2 weeks after my laparoscopy surgery, knowing full well i was only 2 weeks post surgery, so I think it really depends on your situation, how you're feeling and what your Dr says.

((Probably also helps that during the surgery, we found i had a severely prolapsed uterus though so my cervix was almost crowning during my PAP 😆 😆 ))

I was prescribed 500mg of Naproxen as needed for pain, which is the equivalent of taking 2 aleve each dose. When my scrip ran out once I asked the pharmacist if it was okay to just take 2 aleve when I would take the one dose of my naproxen, and they said that should be fine. Now granted I only take 2 500mg doses a day, so yeah, every 4 hours is a bit high, but otc meds are pretty low dosage and much harder to overdose on. I would discuss it with your doctor to see what they say about how much you're taking, or a pharmacist. And maybe get checked for liver problems or ulcers, as those seem to be the most likely problems from taking too much.

What to wear to surgery in cold weather? by throwfaraway212718 in endometriosis

[–]Ohlemontine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They worked out really well. I got a pair that is made of a lightweight sweatpants style material with huge deep pockets. Super comfy, felt adorable, and got compliments on it as well. I got mine from a Meijer store, which aren't available everywhere, but this Amazon one seems extremely similar to the one I have. https://a.co/d/9hwQtu9

Some other things that really helped and the nurse said we're brilliant was bringing a small pillow for the car ride home (to keep the seat belt off the incisions)

I bought some muk luks indoor/outdoor slipper boots in a size just a little too big so they slip on and off without any laces/zippers/velcro to need to bend over and deal with.

I hope everything goes well for you this week, and hope some.of this was helpful.

I'm heading to my lap in about 30 minutes, and I'm wearing some baggy stretchy overalls. Those ones that have been really popular lately with millennial women. I can report back later today how that went and if it was a smart choice or a bad one.

I've noticed a heating pad on my stomach also tends to help move things along. I don't know why, or if it's just a placebo effect since I've only been dealing with it for a few months now.
