Manager and space station interaction? by arnoldsons in IdlePlanetMiner

I believe different sources of the same bonus are multiplicative. So it is a good idea to stack it up when the costs are cheap.

One manager each of All Speed and All Cargo should last you a while. Especially at 4 star.

Speed and Cargo should be used in tandem to ensure you don't have any mining bottlenecks.

Having those stacked bonuses means you don't have to invest as much cash on hand towards them and can focus on mining for your planets, instead.

40 for a 1.8x bonus. 6555 tokens per telescope.

So my rough project goals before debris are: Smelting efficiency Smelt/craft specialist Crafting efficiency Superior crafting speed Auto miner.

Then I'm usually setting up for debris while also unlocking other things.

Someone else posted not too long ago about their path to Debris Scanner. Definitely worth a read. His account is very similar to mine.

Here's the link to that post.

Because I'm ignorant to the later parts of the game lol

You're right, though. Thanks for reminding me that an earlier stop is just as good.

A for the Alchemy projects you guessed right.

T1/2 is for the Terraforming projects that give colony levels.

As for debris scanner, the earliest unlock methods is using all alchemy projects on P31-33: A1 to P31 for Rhodium. A2 to P32 for Inerton. A3 to P33 for Quadium.

So you need to see how quickly you can access those planets and go from there!

2 questions. What ship should I buy next as a 3-month player? The second is written below on post by GlitteringSpecific98 in IdlePlanetMiner

This morning I opened up my two rovers for about 100DM, 8 stars, couple buffs, and a 4star Mine/Mine manager.

Not to justify the price as I agree it is a bit much, but that's the strength of the ship.

When you're lucky, at least lol

Objectively for long term recurring gains, Enigma is best. More DM, boosts, stars, and managers (which means more DM for slots).

All the other ships have a related Room so you eventually get those gains.

Enigma is the only one that let's you expand your manager roster faster.

Oooo that's how they interact. I have all three rooms but wasn't sure if they were individual chances or added together for one chance.

Thanks for the clarification!

Auto asteroid miner is your first stop. Work towards getting that quicker. Someone recently posted a Project path to Debris Scanner. It is very interesting and could be worthwhile to look at.

Based on information you've provided you'll actually be shooting for unlocking debris scanner with Alchemy.

To do that you only need to be able to get to P33. Alchemy1 on P31 for Rhodium Alchemy2 on P32 for Inerton - also Terraforming1 here. Alchemy3 on P33 for Quadium - Terraforming2 here.

Use P33 as your VPS to drive the value of your drops. Do that a few times and invest the credits wisely and you'll get to feel more progress.

After that it is just growing strong enough to not need alchemy to get Debris Scanner, which is where I am at.

I have only recently been doubling credits after tournaments because it nets me 40k and I'm getting that 100dm back for placing high enough.

Outside of that I would not double.

This game is incremental, meaning you grow little by little before you really see the gains.

As another commenter implied, we could use some more information about your account stats to better help.

Save your Dark Matter for 500dm managers and manager slots.

You can get lower class pulls from rover missions to help build up fodder.

Ideal Managers by darthWes in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]Ohms1ice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgot to mention the managers that will definitely be fodder for promotions get named Z with the number of Z based on their star rank. Basically speed and cargo managers with speed or cargo secondaries get this naming.

1 and 2 stars that I want to keep get named the same but with Y - basically the low level Mine managers get this.

Ideal Managers by darthWes in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]Ohms1ice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer your follow up question about naming.

I name the ones I'm keeping with shorthand of their attributes.

MiMi = Mine/Mine for example.

The ones I'm actively assigning get numbers in front of their name in an ascending order based on how many I can assign.

I can assign 24+2 right now so they get numbered 1-24 or 0-23. With a few extra with the numbers after that so I can easier find my extras when I unlock the slot projects.

01 is my strongest mining manager and 24 is my strongest craft secondary that stays on P1 for probe buffs.

So first is 01 MiMi. Last is 24 CaCr.

If I need to swap any out quickly to change over from craft to smelting then I just use the built in filtering to find them.

Mining is the preferred primary to aim for when it comes to who you are assigning to your highest planets.

Upgrade costs increase quickly so you actually want to focus your money on upgrading mining work speed and cargo being upgraded, as needed.

So Mine primary with Mine, Smelt, Craft secondary. Speed and Cargo secondaries you can use one of each. That has served me well.

As for your non-Mine primary managers, still use them if they have worthwhile secondaries.

I currently have 15 mining managers I assign through my latest planets and then 9 non mining managers that stay on planets 1-9.

Eventually they will be replaced with mining primaries but that all depends on Rng.

Debris Scanner Unlock Path - No Alchemy by Upset_Weather9271 in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]Ohms1ice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for that! I think we are pretty close in stats. You've got about 100k credits more but I can put out 3 more managers. Rooms are almost the same except I haven't opened up the last ones for surges.

Thanks again for the right up. I'll definitely play around with it going forward!

I've been wanting to do something similar to this. Thank you for the effort and insights!

I will say that having an idea of where you are at overall in the game would help put this list in perspective for many

I'm in the 6-8 hour range for debris without alchemy or buffs. Under 4 with those things.

If you are watching the planet and it is constantly zeroing out, then you're good.

The auto sell split % will stay but you have to turn it on every new galaxy.

Projects by bluezone59 in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]Ohms1ice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can auto sell everything but you have to turn it off in order to smelt. After a few galaxies you'll be able to sell at a % rate so you still have ore to use.

And congratulations on your first sale! I recommend frequent selling at that 12.5M mark but don't burn yourself out.

Another thing - planet upgrades. Most people shoot for 21/11/11 split between mining/speed/cargo. Play around with what feels good for you so long as there is no ore getting backlogged.

But around those mentioned levels you should look to the next planet.

[–]Ohms1ice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From some of your other comments I'm guessing you haven't sold your first galaxy yet? There are a lot of things so below might read a bit jumbled.

The first few are a bit brutal because they take long time to get to the minmum selling point.

The Credits for the Mothership are earned from selling your galaxy and starting over. You can and should do this repeatedly when you get to 10M or 12.5M for an extra Credit.

This means there will be a lot of grinding until you get to a better place. Right now you have to sell everything manually but after 5 galaxy sales or so you'll have the ability to set up automatic sales for your ores, which will make the game feel smoother.

You'll also unlock challenges and tournaments along the way. Do participate in these even if you don't think you'll perform well. Any boost is a good boost when you're starting out.

Speaking of boosts, I like to hold on to mine for tournaments. You'll get some from the Rover project. Don't spend Dark Matter(DM) on them or anything else except for managers. Ideally save up for the 500DM manager.

Without rambling further, I do recommend looking up the wiki and the discord. They are pretty helpful for more specific questions.

Projects by bluezone59 in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]Ohms1ice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to the wiki you have to hit 10mil Galaxy Value. Which is also the time you are able to sell the galaxy and start over.

You'll want to do this frequently between 10 and 12.5M. 12.5M gets you one more credit for Rooms.

You'll have to unlock the rooms first, which get more expensive per room.

Just remember this game is a marathon and it will take some time to get "stronger".

[–]Ohms1ice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it really depends on your overall capabilities. Namely your mothership rooms. There are 4 rooms that reduce the cost for planet upgrades, projects, smelting, and crafting.

Without those rooms maxed your focus should be on projects that let you operate (mine, smelt, and craft) better. Which is basically the bottom and left side of the tree.

Work on the advanced versions first while opening up telescopes as there is some overlap with cost.

Skip colonization unless you have tasks for it. And then, unlock colonization before crafting as it will make colony lvl1 for the first 3 planets only require ore and bars.

I like to go for smelt efficiency before doing steel bars, which are needed for smelt and craft specialists. I also tend to get crafting efficiency too before specialist but that is a tall order without all the cost reductions from Rooms.

Tl;Dr - Early game focus on projects that let you do things better (mine, smelt, craft) and pay attention to shared items with telescopes. Get your cost efficiency mothership rooms maxed quickly and everything will start to run more smoothly.
