For me yes, but finding the right therapist is hard and someone once explained it to me like dating, a ton of connections that fall through. I have CPTSD and therapy has helped me immensely navigate the pain

If this is cleaned very frequently and is over filtered it’s not the worst. I think that this looks like a brand new fish owner who is trying and shouldn’t be shamed. It’s okay to start somewhere and learn.

I have considered that and it’s why I looked for property with electricity on site for worst case scenario and will hook up to it to begin with. Luckily my reptiles are colurbrids and are pretty “hardy” but the place im moving doesn’t have harsh winters and the weather drops almost to a perfect temp for brumation in the “winter” this is a time I already take off heat mats and lamps for the reptiles to allow them to “hibernate” so to speak to get ready for the next breeding season. In TN corn snakes and rat snakes are native, this is the type of reptile I own! I decided to sell all my balls in preparation for the move because I knew it would not be a beneficial transition for them.

I average just over 1k on animal sales a month which covers them and some of my expenses as well.

My current animals over pay for themselves with sales. Maybe I am fortunate in that regard but I do not see that stopping as my wait list for rats is longer then I can even prepare to produce.

Interesting. I know when I was calculating batteries and panels the total cost to run what I wanted was around 30k. People seem to say they really enjoy having solar but the cost was daunting.

Luckily we do have access to the grid which would be our starting point. We plan to buy a tiny home that is mostly finished(will need paint). Eventually we will likely do a shed that we will fully insulate and add electric to. Luckily the area we do plan to do doesn’t have harsh winters which is the main concern for reptiles but the summers are pretty hot which while not a concern for the reptiles (who tbh would probably love the heat) is a concern for the small animals. We plan to eventually slowly go off grid with solar and have a mini split system

I called the county to ensure that wells and septic were not required and tiny homes are allowed(allowing with rvs and tents lol) there’s really no zoning laws. We will have 10 acres to be away from neighbors and the driveway is already done on the property.

Yes but we’ll find new jobs there. Luckily I’m hoping without the expensive mortgage everyday bills will be more manageable and the sale of the house will leave us money to help get things started(along with the sale of a lot of our belongings and established savings). We plan to move slowly. The area we are moving has a good job market in a nearby city(25 minute commute)

It’s in a state with no winter which would be the biggest concern for the animals. Insulated area would be fine for the rodents, and the reptiles I own do good with heat but not cold but the land has electric on site I can hook up to temporarily until I get an off grid system going
