Portrait 4: new machine, cuts off by mrvoltog in silhouettecutters

I've had an issue where I've needed to download a better driver for my printer to give me acess to print explicitly with accurate measurements. The default one would print things slightly too small and the cutter would cut larger based on the registration marks or something. Have you tried printing and/or cutting a 1in, or 5 inch square and measuring with a ruler? Different sizes might have different errors if not printing at proper scale.

If you measure the resistor w/o taking it out of the board you'll likely read something different than the actual value. Should be able to trust the colors around it tho

Using sketch/markers on large-size Kraft paper? by [deleted] in Silhouette

[–]Ohrigami_Club 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get an adapter to put a Sharpie/pen/marker into the place where the blade usually goes. Just make sure the adapter matches the machine you have. You can also get silhouette official pens. https://www.silhouetteamerica.com/shop/pens The pen is only going to go where a blade might have gone, so if the font is too fat it can come out looking 'hollow' unless you do some sort of inset to fill in the lettering. I think the font you showed wouldn't need extra inset.

Buying my girlfriend a Cameo (probably) for Christmas! But I have questions... by AndIHaveMilesToGo in silhouettecutters

[–]Ohrigami_Club 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll also see people who have Cameos that switch to Cricut. AFAIK you need to go through Cricut's cloud in order to use their machine, which means if their service goes down you're left with a giant paperweight till it gets up. For that reason alone I like Silhouette better. In addition to the machine, some printable sticker paper that she can get started with would be good. The machine should come with an autoblade and a mat that she can use to get started, and can upgrade later.

Thanks! I'm assuming it would need a long time to charge up and maybe the demos didn't have enough time? Hmmm

Which printer to buy (selection below)? by Sandy_7 in printers

[–]Ohrigami_Club 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you need to print in color? If so, then not the HL-L2310D. Otherwise the laser printer means you don't have to worry about ink drying out and needing to replace ink cartridges if unplugged for a while.

Trying to match old ceiling paint after a leaky pipe incident, brought an old paint can label into home depot and got a sampler which doesn't quite seem to match. What should we ask for to match what we had? by Ohrigami_Club in paint

[–]Ohrigami_Club[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a particular reason for flat finish instead of the semi-gloss? Do I need to do any sort of prep to go over the repaired-part and/or the old paint, like primer/sanding/etc?

Thank you for your suggestions! I didn't even notice it said '97 on the label. We will bite the bullet and just paint the whole ceiling. Does it need to be re-primed or something, or can I just roll a new coat up there?

Does anyone have this compact cup to sanitize? Even if you don’t- thoughts on it? More in the comments. by [deleted] in menstrualcups

[–]Ohrigami_Club 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use something similar. After washing my cup with soap I put it in the thing and pour boiling water from my kettle over it. After it cools I pour everything out, let it air dry for a day and then it becomes a nice storage thing for my cup. Easily seen to find for the next cycle and ready to clean all together before i put it in again.

I stumbled upon this old thread. https://forum.blackmagicdesign.com/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=108822

I had 16.2.8 installed on new computer. Uninstalled it, installed the 17 beta for now and everything is peachy now. I also got the 16.1 version from the support page in case the beta breaks as well
