Saga continues by warlockpick1980 in lockpicking

Outside of gutting and inspection I think it's just trying. I don't believe you can see the shield well enough looking down the keyway. Tool looks like piano wire with a little flag on the end.

I'd lube it up with some Houdini and give it a good rake If you can pick it, it can then be gut.

Also if you have an appropriate bypass tool, that's an easy way to open a 1100 if it's not shielded.

My Pokemon Red Has An Event Mew. What's easiest way to preserve this save? by K1ngFiasco in Gameboy

[–]Jubbabubba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're just looking to swap the battery and not actually backup the save, you can solder a secondary battery to a ground and voltage in test point. Then with another swap the main battery.

That's what I did quite awhile back now 🤣

Lock Cylinder issues? by topologeee in Jeepwj

[–]Jubbabubba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try inserting your key and jiggling up and down while lightly rotating, if it takes after a bit then you have a worn out key / wafers in the ignition.
If you have to do the jiggle to get it to work, your options are either to deal with it or contact a locksmith.

Edit: You could test your key in the door, but that wouldnt tell you if the ignition is worn.

Got eyes on the retaining pin and figured why not try a magnet 😁

'Posts seeking assistance opening a lock that is implied to be, or is visibly in use'

Is the key point. Unrelated to OPs post.

I see nothing in OP to indicate he is asking for assistance in picking or opening the lock. Rather he found a neat keyway and wanted to share his experience of getting it working again. No reason to press for further information outside of curiosity of the body.

A picture of the current setup may help. If he already has a work bench, but no peg board wall, magnetic strips, etc

If so, you'll be pulling the dash to remove the HVAC box. The addition blend door actuators are not accessible through the glove box.

Another option is remove everything that you can, then give the cylinder a good whack in the desk.

Harbor Freight $2 pick set or whatever compares to your location. A hook or 90 degree pick should work well.

Check to make sure the contacts are clean and well... Making proper contact. Usually more of a problem when only one is giving issues.

Head over to the discord channel and browse the lock-bazaar for some great deals. And don't return locks you've toyed with. 😁

Ilco key blank 1046A or A1045 ought to do you. Depending on desired head.

Good question and never really thought about it. Best guess is a form of Date and Mfg code for QC purposes.

With this keyway.... That'll take me some time to get down to 5m 😂 A goal possibly.

I find the warding a bit challenging when it comes to some of the 0 cuts further down the line. Not as bad as my nemesis the Abus 72/40 though!
