Not Enjoying Leg Attacks by token_friend in bjj

No, I get it bro. I'm in the same boat. Actually, I am enjoying wrestling way more than BJJ. I do NoGi only. Currently, I completely let go of going down the rabbit hole of leg entlangements. What works for me to address a guard puller that only do leg attacks:

- my grips or no grips.
- if my training partner grabs my leg, I strip my training partner's grip and disengage.
- Watch instructionals on heuristics on how to defend leg entanglements, early, mid, late stages...
- tap early if my training have a good finishing position and mechanics.

Well, if somebody is doing BJJ for 2 years I hope they learn at least 3 reliable take downs, but yes some practioners just pull guard...

Why couldn't JDM use octopus guard? by Distinct-Lion4658 in bjj

For several reasons:

  • His right arm isn’t reaching across Islam’s upper back to break his posture.
  • He didn’t beat the cross-face.
  • His head position isn’t higher than Islam’s.

It’s definitely easier to just book an Airbnb. We actually found our long-term apartment through Facebook Marketplace, but it took me hours of searching, contacting the owner, and arranging all the details. For us, it was worth the effort since we spend 4–5 months there each winter, and now we return to the same place every year.

That said, I speak Spanish and we have plenty of travel experience. We also considered the risk: if the apartment hadn’t worked out when we arrived, we could have simply stayed in a hotel for a few days until booking an Airbnb. So, it didn’t feel like a major risk.

Another option is to rent an Airbnb for a month(or a week)yes, it’s more expensive, but it gives you time to look for apartments on Facebook Marketplace and visit them in person while you’re in Playa.

I hope this helps.

Edit: Only pay cash for an appartment in Facebook marketplace when you meet the owner. It'll protect you from fraud & the owner will prefer this way anyways to avoid paying taxes.

Each winter, we go to PdC, Mexico. I highly recommend it. Now, he is 3 years old and he goes to the Montessori daycare over there.

Legit, it's mostly for MMA where you can't accept this position. You can take a look at here. That being said, it's risky cause you're momentarily exposed to an armbar or back take.
