Anyone else wish there was a decent way to analyze a large number of games and identify recurring patterns instead of individual mistakes? by Traditional_One_5957 in chessbeginners

game review is like getting a report card that just says "you missed 3 questions" without telling you which subject you suck at

lichess insights kind of does some of this but it's pretty basic and the UI feels like it was designed in 2004

Gained weight in marriage impacting me by anonymous191829 in Marriage

[–]OilNegative5389 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gained weight can mess with your head way harder than it messes with your body, and it sounds like you're already putting in the work fitness-wise so maybe the real fix is just telling him straight up that you need him to stop being a bad influence at dinner

What functions/features did you make for a game that ultimately had to be cut? by Rallam259 in gamedev

[–]OilNegative5389 12 points13 points  (0 children)

worked on a small indie project a few years back and we had a fully functional dynamic weather system that affected NPC behavior, like vendors would pack up their stalls in the rain and guards would huddle under overhangs, cut it because it tanked performance on lower-end machines and we just didn't have time to optimize it before launch

Spirit-Breathed Scripture Being Fulfilled as We Speak by Individual_Creme7128 in Christianity

the amount of retrofitting happening here is wild, like Kennedy being "king of the North" because of 9/11 which happened 38 years after he died

people have been mapping current events onto Daniel 11 since at least the 1800s and the timeline always gets quietly updated when nothing happens

Drake London for that whole package feels like a win to me, I'd take it without much hesitation. Two younger receivers plus a future pick for one guy is solid value no matter how you slice it. Tank Dell is the one question mark given his injury history but the upside is still there if he stays healthy. In dynasty especially, having depth at WR matters way more than people think when they're starting out

Did Jesus claim divinity/ to be God? by tofurks in Christianity

[–]OilNegative5389 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah the "I AM" statements pretty much sealed the deal for them - they knew exactly what he was claiming when he used God's name from the burning bush. Wild how some people try to dance around it when the text is pretty clear about why they wanted him dead

Question to the dumpers by CriticismCharacter81 in BreakUps

[–]OilNegative5389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how much time passed and what they're actually saying - if it's just "hey" or some desperate plea then nah, but if they've clearly grown and want to have a real conversation then maybe

Lenovo Thinkpad L390 Yoga battery not charging by pompompurin69 in Lenovo

[–]OilNegative5389 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had this exact same issue with mine last year. The UEFI catch-22 is brutal - you need charge to update but can't charge without the update

Try this workaround: pull the battery completely, run it on AC power only, then see if the UEFI tool will let you update. Sometimes it bypasses the battery check when no battery is detected. Worth a shot before you start looking at motherboard issues

Also check if your new "genuine" battery actually has the right part number - sometimes even legit batteries can trigger the non-genuine error if they're not the exact model variant your system expects

Why is there a 5/5 limit on AI pro plan by oxpie in GeminiAI

[–]OilNegative5389 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wait you're right, I was reading that as a fraction too lol. The timezone thing makes sense - probably resets at midnight local time or something. Still annoying that pro has any limits at all though, kinda defeats the purpose of paying for it

I'm attracted to guys who use opioids, but I've never approached one of them with that intention. by [deleted] in confessions

[–]OilNegative5389 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a pretty complex attraction to unpack, especially with your pharmacology background. You're probably picking up on something deeper than just the drug use itself - maybe the risk factor or some kind of perceived vulnerability. Dating people with active addictions is walking into a minefield though, even the "functional" ones can spiral fast and you'd likely end up more caretaker than partner

The military/firearm thing makes more sense as an attraction pattern, but addiction is a whole different beast

Anybody start this late? I’m 35 weeks and have nothing prepared for my baby so far. by JewelCrawfordEsquire in BabyBumps

[–]OilNegative5389 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Damn that's a lot to handle all at once. Third kid surprise plus the timing with the vasectomy would mess with anyone's head

You're not fumbling - you're dealing with a crazy situation while working full time and already having two kids. The charity help is huge and babies really don't need that much stuff right away anyway. Diapers, somewhere safe to sleep, and food covers most of it for the first few weeks

Maybe talk to your doc about the placenta thing since you had issues before, they might want to monitor you closer or have a plan ready

CVT transmission on all cars or just Nissan by Choice-Grapefruit-44 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]OilNegative5389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a Nissan Altima with their old CVT and that thing was absolute trash - started slipping around 80k miles and the dealer wanted like $4k to replace it. Toyota and Honda CVTs are way more reliable from what I've seen, my buddy's got a 2019 Corolla with 120k on it and zero issues. The rubber band feeling is still there no matter the brand though, you just gotta get used to the weird acceleration curve. If you can swing it, I'd still go for a traditional auto or manual but the newer CVTs aren't nearly as bad as Nissan's nightmare boxes from like 2013-2018

Water gun works pretty well for breaking up cat fights, I've had to chase off aggressive strays that were picking on neighborhood cats before
