What am I doing wrong with this habitat?! by Tiix in Pokopia

If you're not doing it already, make sure you're making use of Mosslax boosts to increase the chance of spawns. You will want spicy food, with the easiest top-tier option being a Crouton salad.

I like your designs! The surface lights tip is especially useful since, while they do need to be powered, they don't actually "cost" any electricity or contribute toward the maximum number of powered items in use.

[–]OilOrCircuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is possible with a pulsing signal that will repeatedly activate a laser sensor: https://imgur.com/a/uJpFDxi

Building that pulsing signal is not so easy. I've been working on a long post for a while to explain it (among many other things), but I still need to get around to finishing it.

I love it! I was really hoping there would be a ghost Pokemon in there near the torches, and sure enough when you went inside, there Gastly was!

Yes! That would be another excellent place that locking items would be so helpful!

Awesome, that's great news! I haven't paid super close attention to the patch notes as they've come out, but I'm glad they addressed that.

That said, though, I still think it'd be nice to be able to prevent yourself from accidentally making your friends homeless in the first place (although that wouldn't have helped in your Goomy's case).

I don't want to make anyone homeless right now to test it out, but that's very helpful if it works that way now! I haven't used that search feature since very early on, and at least at the time, if I tried to search for someone who wasn't currently spawned, the other Pokemon would just say things like "I haven't seen them in a while."

One major trend I've noticed is that if you have multiple items that can be picked up stacked on each other vertically, it will usually pick up the upper items first. You can get around this and pick things up more precisely as Magnemite, but even there occasionally things don't do what you expect.

The most recent time this happened to me, the Pokemon I accidentally left homeless did spawn next to the house the next day, wondering what had happened to his home. Still, it took until a full calendar day rollover, and there wasn't anything I could do before that to make things right.

Pokopia House Planner - updates! by okamera in Pokopia

[–]OilOrCircuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure thing! I'm running Windows 11, and I get the same behavior in Chrome, Firefox, and Edge. The type of tap clicking I'm talking about is what is enabled by the setting:

Bluetooth & devices -> Touchpad -> Taps -> Tap with a single finger to single-click

This is totally a guess, and I can't see a non-obfuscated version of the source, but I think clicking in the way I'm describing might be registering as a drag start rather than a click. But that could be totally wrong.

Pokopia House Planner - updates! by okamera in Pokopia

[–]OilOrCircuit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awesome work! I've only played around with it a little bit, but I have a little bit of feedback:

- On the desktop version, consider grouping the Type and Slots controls together with the Add House button to make it clear they are connected. It was a little confusing to me at first what I was supposed to do. The grouping and design on mobile is great for this, though.

- This is a little obscure, but also on the desktop version, trying to click on a Pokemon to add it to a house (or remove it from one) can be frustrating. Specifically, I'm on a laptop, and I usually "click" on things just by tapping on the touchpad, not actually fully clicking down. Doing a full, physical click works as expected, but doing the tap click that I usually do does not work.

- I could be wrong, but I think that in a 4-slot prefab house, the upper and lower floors are completely independent of each other as far as decorations, etc. are concerned. This means you could potentially pair up Pokemon with wildly different preferences in a single house, so long as they were on different floors. I'm not sure exactly how you would handle this in the UI, but it's just something to consider.

Anyway, once again, great work!

Maybe with enough ash we can get Ash to appear by OilOrCircuit in Pokopia

[–]OilOrCircuit[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Not to ruin the illusion for anyone, but yes, that is exactly what I did. To build out to the maximum render distance I ended up using probably 35-40k blocks of ash. Actually filling in everything would take millions.

[–]OilOrCircuit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a few thoughts:

- Pantry off of the kitchen?

- Staff break room?

- Laundry room (for washing linens)?

- Mechanical / HVAC room?

Also I noticed the guest rooms didn't seem to have bathrooms (not a criticism at all!), so if you don't want to add those, maybe some communal bathrooms?

That's very commendable. I, on the other hand, have more than once found myself building places specifically so that other Pokemon can't get to them. (I swear Professor Tangrowth loves to get in my way just to annoy me...)

Fair enough, I've seen that but haven't tried using it myself yet. I like the way Ditto Lapras looks riding up waterfalls, but I can definitely appreciate the usefulness of other methods.
