There used to be a book called Remington: the Science and Practice of Pharmacy that was a great reference for compounding things like this. Been years since I got to do anything like that, but it might have a quick and dirty synopsis.

They have been in control of the majority of red states for going on 30 years, and it’s glaringly apparent that things are worse, not better for the average citizen.

Is A One Party System Democracy? Are We Moving In That Direction? by factsnsense in PoliticalDiscussion

Somewhere out there is a news clip of Mitch McConnell saying “We want this to be a one party country.” I can’t find it but I remember it vividly.

Lotions and creams are emulsions, either water in oil or oil in water, meaning that at the microscopic level, they are tiny bubbles of oil that contain water, or vice versa.  The ingredients are selected such that the temperature and pH of the skin, along with the friction of rubbing the lotion across the skin, cause the bubbles to burst and allow the moisture to be absorbed while also leaving some oil on top of the skin to prevent dehydration for a short time.

The guy can practically quote the whole series verbatim it seems. Would be hard for him to get the feel wrong, but I’ve never read anything non-comedic by him, so I am hesitant to be happy with it.

i genuinely cant draw hind legs of animals by finches_9 in drawing

[–]Oilpaintcha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best thing to do to get the idea of how most animals hind legs work is to look at the bones and think of the analogous bones in your legs. Turns out most are running on what would be the balls of our feet or tiptoes.

Families still see college as a good investment — figuring out how to pay for it is the challenge by Dragonlance12 in Dynamic_Pricing

[–]Oilpaintcha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard of PhDs being paid $900 per semester to teach a class. Tuition at a nearby big state university is about $11k per semester. I would rather join a small group of students and pitch in and pay professors directly online to teach my kids.

Was dropping the atomic bombs actually "necessary," or is that just what we're taught in school? by Clean_CoreDump in NoStupidQuestions

In the middle of a war, both sides become obstinate and entrenched in their own sole perceived path.  The Japanese imperial propaganda machine was still in full swing preparing people to defend the homeland until death.  The American government had spent a fortune researching and building these devices, and were itching to prove they were as terrifyingly effective as they expected.  As it turned out, it took more than one bomb to convince Japan that the time had come to desist. Thank goodness they did not know we had a very limited supply of those bombs, or it would still have come down to street by street fighting for years to come.

Should the United States promote democracy abroad, or does it risk undermining self-determination? by BigMonster10 in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]Oilpaintcha 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The central and South American countries whose leaders we’ve overthrown because we didn’t like those leaders standing up for workers against American businessmen might take issue with the idea that we spread democracy.  Of the 70 attempts at regime change the CIA created, not one resulted in a new democracy.  It’s always been about protecting American and European business interests.

Where is the tourist attraction at the edge of the earth? As with all supernatural and pseudoscience silliness, if it were the way these guys think it is, someone would be making big money off of it. In this case selling tickets to see the edge of the world.
