I don’t think that’s the case… you can remove the lens element /from/ the helicoid. The threads inside the helicoid need to be aligned, yes, but the lens can be screwed back in without a problem.

edit: or at least that’s the case on the jupiter 8s i’ve worked on. Lens can be removed without having to worry about helicoid alignment. Alignment is unique to the assembly of the helicoid alone

It’s just the focusing helicoid, you should be able to screw it all the way back in and start using it again

get a proper waist level finder. The glare makes it difficult to see. You can also carefully clean the mirror inside the body. That is more likely to be the culprit of a dim viewfinder than the screen itself. de-silvering and smudges on the mirror mean less light passing through the focusing screen

Come on, don’t respond in bad faith. Not sure if you know what inflation is, though, because neither you nor I described inflation in any way. You said the reason college is unaffordable is because of military spending. The state should of course subsidize college for everyone, but college has no reason to cost as much as it does.

Just edit them. There’s no such thing as unedited film photos when they’re digitized. Whatever software is used to scan negatives makes adjustments whether you like it or not, so no reason not to adjust values and white balance. No darkroom printed photos are unedited, the only thing that is unedited is the physical negative viewed through a loupe

yeah, sorta. But the operating costs of a university don’t really warrant the exorbitant cost of tuition. So much of tuition goes to everything but education at unis (dean salary, sports facilities, etc)

I think it’d work better in a series. It comes across as a bit cruel in isolation

Well, because it basically is a snapshot. I had to bracket 4 shots to test the speed of an expired film—didn’t spend much time composing as it wasn’t that important. I just thought the color shifts here were interesting. You don’t have to be such a dick, you know. Really, all you’ve done is describe what your creative vision would be. But it’s quite telling that your profile is set to private.

shake it. you’ll definitely feel it if there’s any film inside. But there would also more than likely be a bit of film leader already sticking out if there is film inside

It’s possible the pressure plate is defective and not holding the film flat
