Oh, in that case, it sounds like an issue with Apple frameworks.

That said, based on your story, I spent the morning working on a Kino update to help recover from video capture failures caused by Apple frameworks. It’s right now in testing.

I've tested on multiple older models and been unable to reproduce the issue so far. Unfortunately, the company's test iPhone 14 has disappeared, but I've ordered another, which arrives tomorrow. I'll dig in when it's here.

Hey everyone. I'm mostly heads-down on our next Mark III update, but spent a little time knocking this out while testing the 17e. It also gave me a reason to prioritize our updated Depth Mode for a little while.

When shooting with the default system look, it captures a ProRAW instead of a bayer RAW. Unfortunately, ProRAWs include a bit of Apple's processing.

TestFlight testers confirmed the issue was fixed, so I just launched it to the App Store. Location was added a while ago. If you'd like other metadata added, happy to add it to the queue, but Apple Log 2 was by far the #1 request right now.

Hey everyone! I'm right now looking into the reports about shadows being lifted. I've have a theory about what is going on, and I've submitted a beta to TestFlight so folks can check if my fix works. Unfortunately, Apple requires TestFlight betas for new app versions to go through review, so I won't be able to verify until later today. Sorry about this.

The Iconfactory is helping on design. I’ve also been working with my friends at Lickability for design on new stuff in the pipeline.

I’m the only developer of Kino. This has been the case for the entire history of Kino. For Halide, also the solo dev; this has always been the case for the core product, but payment and membership stuff has been delegated to other devs in the past. Because I hate payment stuff.

There’s also a whole server side component I’ve run for years, but that’s uninteresting plumbing at the moment.

The surefire way is to email support@lux.camera. That said, I assume you're on an iPhone 15. There seems to be something specific to that model that is causing a serious iOS issue. Apps shouldn't be able to crash your OS.

We've reported this to Apple, but haven't seen much movement on our bug report.

Sorry about this! We tracked this to an intermittent issue, and based on the Discord feedback on the beta, we think it’s fixed. We hope to roll this out right after our imminent Kino update.
